What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.7 this morning. Gonna work on my train again today then watch the F1 later if my internet agrees. Some pics of my train included, will add some with my progress each day.

Type 1 Look at that beautiful straight line

That’s awesome @Jed.s remeber to take note of everything you eat the day before and when, also insulin doses used to achieve that. But also don’t be too disappointed if you get a few wobbles .

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Sorry I’ve been awol again, I haven’t caught up (too many posts) but hugs to all who need or want them, high 5s and handshakes available also. (thanks @gennepher ) My fbs was 5.5 this morning, with a finger prick after I had a faulty libre sensor yesterday. It feels a bit unsettling to not...

Libre, how inaccurate is too inaccurate?

Update: I phone abbot again this evening and gave them more readings, they have agreed to replace my sensor. I felt the difference was too high, and I didn’t like thinking I was hypo when I wasn’t, I felt it could have lead to me running my sugars higher than I need to.

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Started at 73.6kg, last week I was 70.9 but I put a bit on this week, 71.3kg. I’m not too bothered as I’m not really interested in loosing weight, just thought I’d keep track of it along side my blood sugars.

FreeStyle Libre, Vitamin C & Aspirin

I’m on daily ascorbic acid, and I’ve notice most of my sensors read lower than finger pricks tbh.

Libre, how inaccurate is too inaccurate?

@helensaramay thanks, I did wait 24 hours before activating the sensor, but I wasn’t clear in my original post. Being iOS I would love to be able to use spike to calibrate the sensor, but I don’t have a computer to install it every week. I’ve just brought the MiaoMiao 2 which I’m going to use...

Sorry I had a slight technical hitch with images, here they are.

Libre, how inaccurate is too inaccurate?

Ok, so this is probably a bit of a rant/moan about libre, but I want to know what you think is too far out to be accurate? I guess I’ve been lucky, I’ve probably used 10 sensors since starting on it and I was happy enough with the scans Vs finger prick variations. Usually my libre is lower than...

Getting harder to control when maintaining a low BG.

I’m not type 1, but have you confirmed the libre readings? I tend to find it reads slightly lower then my finger pricks.most sensors I’ve used are 0.5-0.7 lower or up to 1mmol/l. I think libre are great to pick up trends, but not accurate enough to decide if you need half a jelly baby.

    Lunch

Is it like a restaurant meal, or buffet food? Restaurant/pub meal you can usually order the meat, and ask for potatoes/chips to be swapped for some extra veggies or salad. Obviously steer clear of the pasta dishes. Buffet can be a it harder, so many buffet foods seem carby, any meat bits that...

Feeling sick, any T1s can help?

It might be worth a call to NHS111, they can diagnose and give treatment advice, and insulin dose adjustments if needed.

@Mr_Pot I don’t doubt there is a lot more to the job, I apologise if my comment wasn’t appropriate.

Type 2 Lost Job due to Restrictions imposed due to Diabetes 'Unfair'?....

I could be sticking my nose in where it don’t belong here, but if your just in the office looking at sensitive files I don’t see how your diabetes could affect that. If you were responsible for transporting files between locations on your own, I’d understand how they want assurances that the...

Just for fun: A "Perfect" Meal

Sorry Mr Pot, I have a image of you going out to pick berries on your walk and the one day your dog does his business in the park you get home, open the bag of berries and find something very different. :hungover::banghead:

    Bemused

I agree titles should be specific enough to know what your clicking on, and also giving some idea of background in the first post. But sometimes people bring up points that the op didn’t think about, or think relevant to their point/question. Also sometimes people don’t understand quite how...

    Diabetes care volunteer- info needed

You could try local volunteer organisations that place people in all different volunteer roles. If I’ve understood your location right, these might be two possible places to start. http://volunteerglos.org.uk/ https://www.worcestercommunityaction.org.uk/volunteering-opportunities

    Got the Freestyle Libre today!

@helensaramay that’s useful, I didn’t realise they were saved every 5 minutes. I know there’s a new reading every minute, though. I’m sorry if I’ve given inaccurate info. I personally like covering mine with tegaderm dressing, I feel safer knowing it’s protected. Being a wheelchair user I’m...
