    First appointment with diabetic nurse

Hi Alison, Yes, i'm in the UK. The thing is, the GP prescribed the strips to me but the nurse said, i'm testing too much! I'm trying to diet control the diabetes. The doc said, we try for 3 month diet only.

    First appointment with diabetic nurse

Thanks for all your replies. By reading a lot on this forum i was half expecting such an experience anyway. I get really angry by thinking, she wasn't even asking how i feel today or how i'm coping or what the levels are... Dragongirl, you are right: too many people 'involved' already and this...

    First appointment with diabetic nurse

Hi all again, I hope you are all in good spirits and life looks good. I just came back from a very disappointing first appointment with the diabetic nurse. She was mainly just reading from a script on her screen. She just asked if i knew about diabetes and went on with her monologue. I...

    Cold in inside

I noticed over the last few month, i'm always cold, even in bed. Last Thurday then when my levels went up to 30, i was freezing at 23 degrees room temperature.I didn't know i'm having uncntrolled diabetes. Now, that the BG is down to 8 or 9, i'm not cold anymore at all.

    query pre diabeties

Louise, well done for taking it serious at this stage. I had exactly the same test and results like you last year and was told, nothing to worry about. The doctor was even laughing when i told him, i measure my Bg now. Unfortunately i stopped watching my diet and stopped measuring after a few...

Wow, both of you Synonym and Giblet are having spinal problems as well. I did loads of research now on the statins and don't wanna take them at all. I couldn't handle all the side effects. I will tell the nurse on Friday. I guess, the cholesterol levels will go down anyway with my new diet and...

Oh Synonym and Giblet, what a jungle!!! Giblet, may i ask if you are male or female? You said, your back is falling to pieces too...sorry. I was put on Amitriptyline but found, it is impossible to lose weight whilst on them. Today i asked for another prescription because the pain wakes me up...

Thanks Giblet. No, i don't need to take any medication now. He said, we try diet only and discuss everything else with the nurse dealing with diabetics. If other people on here said, the Simvastatin gives them muscle pain etc, it will be very hard for me tell the difference between my other...

Hi again everyone, So i just came back from the GP and for the first time i am now officially diagnosed with T2. The year before he always said it was borderline, impaired fasting glycaemia although i have told him my levels are now in the mornings already over 10. He told me today:' You was...

Hi Giblet, No, it was not the GP, it was a guy on the results line at my health centre. I'm just now on the way to the GP to get everything explained. This guy i spoke to yesterday didn't have a glue about anything and he said, the nurse will phone and explain but never did. Irene

Reading back all my posts, i realised how many mistakes i have made, sorry. I will read now before i post again. Yesterday afternoon i finally got the results of the HbA1c test. It's 11.7. I have never heard of that test before but did a little research. Certainly the doc should take it...

Thanks Synonym, it really seems the only option, i was thinking that myself. I will not even go and see the diet clinic like my doctor suggested. Last year i was told there i can eat brown bread, brown rice, cereals and lots more.

You are so right Synonym, I had to throw out loads i bought over the weekend already. This all seems to me like a jungle! I have bought beetroots yesterday and didn't know they contain so much sugar and threw them out already. I always believed, i know food contents pretty well....little did i...

Oh yes, i was afraid, i can't eat fruit yoghurt anymore. I saw a post on here someone mentioning 'Lizi Granola' from Tesco, saying it wouldn't put his blood sugar up. I couldn't find it today but will keep on searching.

Sorry you got diagnosed with both conditions, Alison. Since yesterday i'm really cutting out the carbs, or better nearly  i have tried Special K and the levels go up straight very high. So i will just feed all the cereals i still have to the dogs slowly. I was just shopping and bought...

Thanks again. Today i really tried to eat very little carbs. I found out, nearly everything i have stored in fridge, freezer, cupboards is full of carbs. It was hard to find anything i could eat to be truthful, alhough i'm a food hoarder and never run out of anything. I found loads of shopping...

Yes, Yus, that's right. the reading is again 11.8 and i just woke up. Yesterday afternoon it was again over 20. I read somewhere, infections could raise the BG. I just got over a heavy cold and still have a cough but no fever or other symptoms. Another thing, i have to admit, i'm smoking...

Thank you Ardberg. That really sounds optimistic! My regular GP just phoned me although on holiday. He said, he just had a few things to do in the surgery. He reassured me, it's not dangerous and i booked an appointment with him on Tuesday to discuss everything. Best of luck for your results.
