which glucose monitor do you use?

My gP will also only issue one type of meter which is a neon finetest lite. No Bluetooth which means manual record keeping. Only needs a small amount of blood. I have bought myself a caresens dual which also tests ketones, and has Bluetooth. It’s slightly bigger but I prefer the simplicity. I’m...

    Activating a Freestyle Libre Sensor

The home page in the libre link app should look similar to this, but without any figures or graph. At the bottom where mine says check glucose it should say something like scan new sensor (this screenshot is an iPhone). If you screenshot what you are seeing maybe someone can help.

    Where do I start?

Have a look at this new app launched by two gps recently. There are some good simple menu plans and recipes which might give you some ideas. I also downloaded the nutracheck app which allows you to record meals and calculates the carbs per meal and total per day.

Type 2 Type 2 and pregnant

We can’t really advise you on the right thing to do, we don’t know your test results or why they have decided you should take insulin. But why not phone your maternity team (who I assume will have a diabetic midwife) and ask for a discussion with her about whether you could trial a change in...

    Reduce Insulin or Gliclazide?

If you have the energy to make your own soup, or a good friend to make it for you you can make it low carb. I had cauliflower and blue cheese soup this week which was lovely. If you like fish try fish pie with swede mash, or a mix of swede, butternut squash and carrot. Both can be batch cooked...

Is there any way to reduce the diarrhoea?

A reduced dose might help. I can’t tolerate 2000mg a day but 1000mg is ok. I agree discuss with your medical team.

    Activating a Freestyle Libre Sensor

Once you apply the sensor wait at least 24 hours, preferably 48 hours. Then scan it. This activates it, and you then have to wait 1 hour until you get the first result.

Changed Freestyle sensor, readings all much higher

Yes, I find different sensors can give different results and I attach mine 48hours before starting. My sensor usually reads up to two points below my meter. but I have noticed the last two sensors are reading higher, ie closer to the meter. Maybe coincidence or maybe libre have changed...

    T2 Diagnosis

If you search keto hana they do some really nice low carb granolas. I have mine with full fat Greek yoghurt and sometimes a few berries. Would it be possible to take the yoghurt ready in a bowl and some granola in a separate pot…or leave the granola at work ready. My yoghurt and granola this...

Cheapest source of Freestyle Libre 2 sensors?

The company/pharmacy you get the sensors from should provide it. Abbott on line have the form online when you purchase directly from them.

    It's dropped off.

I would start the new one. I try and insert my new one 48 hours before the old one finishes but if the old one fails early I just insert a new one and activate it straight away. I don’t find the readings unstable, but of course you might be different.

    Triggers for Type 2 Diabetes

Yes, I am sure genetics plays a part in developing the condition, but the way it is managed makes it possible to control it. I spent nine years adjusting my diet to what various nurses told me to eat (even increasing carbs at one point following their adamant instruction), to the point where...

    Libre scans per day?

I’ve just realised I didn’t answer the original question. I still scan the libre into libre link about four times a day so that all the data is on libreview, but I use xdrip to display readings in real time on my watch and check it regularly……several times on hour especially if it’s changing fast.

    Libre scans per day?

ive just read on the diabox Facebook group that it it because diabox enables someone to restart a libre 1 at the end of 14 days and continue using the old sensor. I think they are going to remove that functionality and relaunch under a different name but it will take a couple of months.

    Libre scans per day?

Abbot and apple have just insisted that diabox is removed from TestFlight. You should be ok until the current one on your phone reaches 90 days according to the makers, but mine died recently after about 45 days. I have downloaded xdrip4ios which is working well and sends regular updates to my...

Type 2s What motivates you to control by diet?

My libre sensor and seeing the direct correlation between my food choices and my blood sugar motivates me to make the right choices…..most of the time. If my sugars slip I am ok as long as it was a conscious choice to eat something, what frustrates me,…,the days I make what I think are ok...
