What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Sorry @Bubbsie - I’m going to run out of steam quite quickly. At 3pm an ice cream van pulled up outside. No one twitched.

5.9 today. Yay. Another quote from DESMOND yesterday: “We are not going to say that you shouldn’t drink Lucozade, but it is something you need to be very careful with.”

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

A day of DESMOND is over. Wasn't all bad and the people there were all lovely (inc presenters). The diet part was predictably frustrating and should be renamed the "Butter Is Bad" course. My favourite presenter quote of the day was "But if we took the potato off that plate then that's your...

    Lower Readings At Weekends

Thanks @DavidGrahamJones - I use the MySugr app on my phone so the record keeping is easy. I uploaded the results into a spreadsheet to create the chart but it only took a few minutes. It’s a great app.

    Lower Readings At Weekends

@DavidGrahamJones - that’s ok. You clearly needed to vent which is always ok. I bet your readings went up whilst writing it. Yes - stress may be a factor. I have more of it than I sometimes acknowledge

To be honest for me it was probably an accidental hypo through drinking but not eating because there was only pizza. Lesson was if drinking at all eat bad food rather than no food because dying quickly is not a form of treatment.

It’s DESMOND DAY!!! It’s here. Oh the excitement of it...I’m trembling with anticipation. Thanks for all the reviews over the past few days. I just have to decide on my angry goldfish strategy - do I make a load of splashes and glare through the tank or just keep swimming around my castle...

Be careful - the last time I did that I ended up flat on my face when I stood up.

I’d also be interested to know if anyone has achieved that long term by following only the government low fat dietary advice

I’m going myself in a couple of weeks - I’ll give you a virtual wave when I get there.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I may go back to it - since I know my coffee is zero carb it isn’t overall adding to the problem but may be affecting my biology/ chemistry. I’m just going to see what happens if I take it away for a day or two. A cold sweat is a good thing to cool you down on a hot day - pleased to be of service.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

6.7 today. After discovering yesterday that whatever pushes up my numbers over the course of the morning doesn’t happen at the weekends today I will be experimenting with no coffee. I hope it works because losing the caffeine hit will be challenging.

Type 2 Any Ideas What Is Happening.

Stress can increase BG. A weekend with my extended family can leave me wound up for a fortnight.

I think the term you were grasping for was “Cowdenbeath”

    Lower Readings At Weekends

I don’t think this is down to food choices. Sleep may inherently improve the numbers though - it is healing.

    Lower Readings At Weekends

Maybe - at weekends I have more flexibility as to when I can exercise so that may be a factor.

    Lower Readings At Weekends

Some interesting analysis. After a particularly spiky day, I was prompted to look back over my blood test results over the last couple of months and I've noticed a distinct trend. What prompted me to look was continually getting high readings in the middle of the day, often higher before my...

If I puncture all my wheels at the same time I add "Forfar" onto the front. (I sense my first moderator ticking off may be imminent).

Both lovely names, and names of plants. It has always struck me as interesting that some plant names naturally make good people names (Ash, holly, rose, rowan, etc) but others would just seem odd (Beech, daffodil, snapdragon).
