    Type 2 Newly Diagnosed

Hi - I’m not surprised you are emotionally up and down. This is hard on top of whatever other daily stress you have to cope with. This is a long term condition that needs a long term plan. If you fall off the rails for a couple of days, don’t beat yourself up just recognise it and get back on...

    Scared To Eat

Do not be afraid of the spikes. They are there to teach you not to kill you. Nothing really bad will happen because you spike for a few hours. A few weeks ago you had T2 and didn't know it and were probably either spiking all the time or permanently at high BG. T2 doesn't kill you in a day...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

After a couple of weeks in the 6’s, I’ve pulled a 5.1 rabbit from the hat this morning. I remain both content and baffled in equal measure.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I’ve just opened the post and got my retinopathy results back: all clear. I could cry I’m so happy. It was the only thing that stood between me and feeling like I was properly in control. My inner angry goldfish is becalmed.

Can Anyone Help Please - Event/meeting 1st September- Birmingham

Hi. This is a wonderful idea - well done you!! I would love to go to such an event although I'm on holiday on 1 Sep. If there is a follow up event (which I hope there will be) then I would deffo try and make it. I will send you a couple of recipes (DM? or post here? what do you prefer?) My...

Recently Diagnosed With Type 2 Diabetes

Flora - in the last few weeks I've started being more open with people and telling them - everyone has been incredibly supportive, sympathetic but most of all curious to know more, to learn about the condition and what I am doing to deal with it. I've lost quite a bit of weight and that attracts...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

You are quite right of course and overall I'm in the right range so I'm leaving my Poirot super-sleuth skills in the box for now. Crab salad with a dash of tabasco was quite scrummy for my lunch.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Northerners (I live amongst them) are a very friendly but ungovernable bunch who are proud of their identity, but suspicious of power and those who wield it. They are just like you Alf - you should come here, you’d fit right in!

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I was doubting your judgment after you voted to keep the old goldfish picture but you’ve just redeemed yourself ;-) Not sure my breakfast of chorizo omelette is going to help - salad for lunch it is.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Kicking off the weekend with a 6.6. No rhyme or reason as my dinner was a protein-fest at the cricket. I went to the hog roast stall and asked for pork without the roll because I can’t eat bread. Bless her, she gave me a tray full with a double portion. Now I don’t need double portions of...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

6.3 today. The pattern this week has been 6s either side of brekkie, 7s either side of lunch, 5s either side of dinner. All low carb. Can’t work it out but not bothered as in the right zone. 20:20 cricket tonight at Headingly, hopefully- although the rains may be finally on the way.

Recently Diagnosed With Type 2 Diabetes

Hello. I'm about 11 weeks into my T2 journey. I know how you feel and I know all about the perceived stigma and shame that (wrongly) come with diagnosis. There is loads of great advice, practical and emotional on this site. @daisy1 will post you a welcome pack of info I'm sure but hunt...

Does Diabetes Regulate Your Life ?

I find it regulates my day more but not my month. My morning routine is more organised, I plan more where I will find T2 friendly meals, I even have more routine in loo trips so I can time them around tests (so I don’t need loads of extra hand wash visits). I’m still left wishing had more time...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Good morning- whilst I’m still actively losing weight I’ve decided not to place too much stock in my numbers provided they stay inside recommended parameters. Too hard to compute all the variables. 6.4 this morning - the world will not shatter.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Meanwhile, in non diabetic news, I have updated my angry goldfish picture. What do we think? Hit winner if you prefer it, or optimistic if you want the old one back. I can’t promise I’ll obey the result.

Why Eat Carbs As A Type 2 Diabetic?

You missed my point. Anonymity is vital on here. What I am saying is that we should not use anonymity as a shield to be rude. We should talk to people with our avatars the same way as we would talk to someone who knows who we are.
