What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I have attended numerous oncology appointments with my mum; the stress/ emotion of the situation means she doesn’t always take everything in, even though she is well educated on her condition: having someone there just to remember the details helps.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

You raise a good question. My answer is purely from a T2 perspective: Anything above 7.0 is in the pre-diabetic range and now we understand the complications that can arise, getting below that is a good target to have, particularly if prior to eating a breakfast that could result in a spike...

As anyone got any breakfast ideas when you're on the go?

Keep going with low carb - before long you’ll be happy without food all morning In the meantime - chopped avocado or - handful of nuts or - hard boiled egg or - sliced cold chicken - pâté

Am I OK to eat this...

I’ve seen posts from non diabetics spiking to over 9 from eating a banana. I doubt you’ve done any lasting harm from the experiment and generally I allow myself some 80% or even 70% chocolate from time to time but usually when I’m below 6.0. May affect my morning reading though the next day...

One word to describe the moment before your first ever pin prick test

I’m enjoying the stories People are busting the one word limit but it’s good to recall how we felt at the start - new people are going through that experience every day Keep them coming!

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I've kept my resolution today that instead of just sulking about a bad morning score, I will put it in perspective and go and give some encouragement to new forum members. I can readily recall how overwhelming it all was at first. I thought I'd tag a few in case they feel like joining in our...

Newly diagnosed with type 2 and feeling unwell

Hello Yorkshire lad (I am based in Yorkshire too!). I got my Hba1c from 66 to 40 in 3 months and I attribute this to 3 things: i) Low Carb diet - avoiding potatoes, cereals, bread, pasta and rice, sweet things and fruit juice. ii) testing my blood before and 2 hours after every meal - so...

    Hello,

Hi Emily Here is a blog I wrote about my first 50 days post diagnosis - I certainly recognise the feelings of turmoil. https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/blog-entry/type-2-my-first-50-days.2190/ Hopefully your hba1c will start heading in the right direction - starting at 50 isn't too bad, so...

    Do these readings look OK?

Welcome to the forum. It looks to me that your diet changes are already sending you in the right direction and the volatility is within ranges that we pretty much all see - especially so early on. Remember that the life of blood cell is circa 3 months so look after the new ones and the sugary...
