I also only record once per week. But I have changed the day a few times out of fickleness and sulking at a bad result. If you are weighing every day, have you been able to test the Wednesday hypothesis - does it hold true that it is the best day. And what is the meaning of best? Most accurate...

below 6 is good for me. Of course most of us have no idea what our natural levels were pre - diagnosis. I expect there was a spectrum not dissimilar to what remission people post here (obviously wider for non remissions and T1s). I think I'm in a good place but I see all you 5s and 4s and am...

don't overthink it - varying levels of hydration can have a big impact on individual readings. it's where you are on week 12 compared to week 1 that matters. Keep going!

    Strawberry Jam

You could mix your sugar free jam with Greek yogurt to make a home made low carb Muller Corner. (Not to confused with a Thomas Muller Corner, which is what happens when a German footballer takes a set piece kick).

6.1 today. Which I am blaming on leaving the meter downstairs so the blood was pumping too much before I could draw some

The cricket score isn’t helping my blood pressure experiment. I’ll be increasing the dose at this rate.

    Newly diagnosed - overwhelmed!

Hi – congratulations on surviving the heart attack. It’s given you a second chance and great to see you’ve come here to make the most of it. You’ve had lots of great advice so far so I’ll try to not to muddy the water with much more. This is all very overwhelming at first but if you take this...

    Please Help

Firstly, congratulations on the weight loss. That is a fantastic achievement. The advice above about there being lots of factors involved in an individual spike is correct. This is a bumpy road so you have the ride the ups and the downs. If overall you remain pointing in the right direction...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

thanks - it's not really that dangerous given my levels. I'm testing several times a day whilst I'm off. So if the BP started to rocket up, I would just take the pills again. BP in the 130s-140's won't cause any sudden damage. The only way to assess whether my BP is more naturally under...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I agree you need a diagnosis before deciding on a course of action (in conjunction with HCPs). However, if you get a test result that seems really odd then worth doing another test on the other hand straight away (having washed hands thoroughly) - sometimes you can get a dodgy strip.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hello, I’ve been (sort-of) sulking for the last few days after a 6.7 and a 7.1. I say sort-of because I’ve decided that when I get a bad score I will use it as a prompt to visit the newly diagnosed section of the forum and try and find something helpful to say to a newbie, to guide them in the...

    Help! Newly diagnosed and hungry!

So 95 is a High start point. But remember this - the average life of a blood cell is about 12 weeks. The key therefore is to look after the new ones. The old ones will die off. You can get from 95 to healthy in 3-4 months. Not easy (as you are finding already) but achievable. On the...

JOURNALIST -Pharmacists role in lifestyle medicine

Notwithstanding my comment above - I completely agree with this DGJ. The approach of some diabetics is to say effectively "help me find a way to die slowly and painfully, but with ice cream". Diabetes.co.uk posted one such story this morning on its FB feed...a woman literally going blind but...

JOURNALIST -Pharmacists role in lifestyle medicine

@BloodThirsty , @DavidGrahamJones - this would be less of a neck stretch now for UK pharmacists and no longer contrary to NICE guidelines - since 4 January this year, the Low Carb Programme has been formally added to the digital app for doctors to use in offering treatment / management options...

JOURNALIST -Pharmacists role in lifestyle medicine

You would hope a pharmacist is aware of the limitations some drugs put on their users. I think this would be a case of them promoting the formal Low Carb Programme as opposed to promoting a change of diet. Entrants onto that programme get the full safety briefing. Reflecting on my DESMOND...

Bm 19 at bedtime. Im new and worried

The old saying "you are what you eat" is another reason to avoid crackers. (Although nuts are alright) I wrote a blog about my first 50 days post diagnosis - it is a steep learning curve...this may resonate with you. (click the link to access)...
