What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

6.0 this morning I’m pleased this is a thread where T1s,2s, 3s and others can support each other and be friendly I chewed my way through another active thread last night getting increasingly depressed at its bitter contents. Good morning you lovely people - may you long stay that way.

Why Eat Carbs As A Type 2 Diabetic?

Maybe if you go back to the beginning of this thread and if you posted statements which you no longer support, or would choose not to say now, then delete them?

Why Eat Carbs As A Type 2 Diabetic?

I'm a relative newbie 2 months in. This forum attracts a lot of newbies, hungry for information, motivation and support. I've read this thread with increasing dismay at the bitterness and venom expressed in some of the posts. A newly diagnosed T2 would be sent running from site if they read...

    First Retinopathy Scan

I’ve just had my first retinopathy scan. I thought I would share my experience because I know some people get concerned and anxious about it. I haven’t had results yet but the procedure itself was fine. The drops are uncomfortable at first but not anywhere near as bad as getting a tiny bit of...

Help I Need To Get My Motivation Back!

There’s lots of great practical advice above - I won’t crowd the space with more. However - how about channeling your inner-Leia What would the Princess do? She’d fight, and not by herself, she’d get her friends and family to help. Be the Princess. May the force be with you.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

6.0 today. According to MySugr my 7 day, 14 day, 30 day and 90 day average for all tests is 6.3. Consistent, although a slight downward trend would be nice, I keep getting my chart out to remind myself that 6.3 is normal, and I’ll be quite happy if it stays there all year.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

What does the course entail I wonder? Is there much to learn - is it one of those things that looks deceptively simply but actually requires lots of technique?

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning all. An unremarkable 6.3 starts my week. However, Monday is weigh-in day and there is now less rhubarb than there has been for decades: 89.9kg is 11.6kg down in 10 weeks. It’s starts with an 8! Can’t remember when that last happened. 20 years maybe.

Which Is The Cheapest Lancets And Strips?

I took a rare sample from my little finger today. Don’t know why but I tend to ignore it. It was obviously ready for a go though because it bled like a stuck pig.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning A perfectly acceptable but ever so slightly frustrating 6.0 to start my day.

Which Is The Cheapest Lancets And Strips?

Don’t blame pain on the lancet being blunt. That probably isn’t the reason. Your finger tips are a spiders web of nerve endings. Sometimes you’ll miss them, sometimes you’ll hit them bang on the head. You’ve no way of knowing. It’s a lottery.

Which Is The Cheapest Lancets And Strips?

I guess that depends how thick your skin is. I generally test 6 times a day, and start each day with a new lancet.

Good morning all types - get the kettle on. 5.9. That’s 2 in a row, so I’m back in business. Hoping for a better weekend than last week.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Cooked myself a lovely dinner of ribeye steak, celeriac chips and tomato salad. Ended up surrendering half of it to my 8 year old who had sneaked back down to watch the cricket. Portion control at its frustratingly most effective.

    Low Carb Just "a Fad".

To be fair to the PT concerned, he does appear to be concerned about health and is genuinely trying to give health advice: it is just that he isn’t qualified and is giving some bad and inaccurate advice and generally being ham fisted in his approach- a little bit of knowledge is dangerous in the...

Hba1c Results ... Five Months In

Your journey sounds a lot like mine. Well done and thanks for sharing as it lifts my spirits and encourages me when I see others at a similar stage. Hba1C doesn’t lie, your daily bloods sometimes will (mine have been all over the place this week after a period of stability). 41 is under the...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.8 today. Yay. The chaos is over for a bit perhaps. I’m learning to become philosophical about the morning result. It was 7.3 yesterday but even if that were the new normal it would convert to 44 Hba1C which is much better than diagnosis and bob on my most recent test. I know overall I’m doing...

    Low Carb Just "a Fad".

I agree: and osteoporosis. The NHS guidance provides this advice online and an upper limit. So an unqualified PT is holding himself out to be a diet expert and posting incorrect medical advice that contradicts the DoHSC. I’ve written to management and they’ve promised to look into it. I don’t...
