3rd dead sensor in a week

Currently my Libre 2 is held on with numerous plasters! It’s reading low and I plan to ring Abbott’s tomorrow morning. I never had a problem with Libre 1 but this is the third Libre 2 that’s failed. 2 have come off and one was way out and when I removed it the needle was really bent.

“Rapid-acting” insulin taking hours to work…

Thanks that’s really helpful, I changed my Fiasp early to see if it was the vial and was much better this morning, 9 rather than 15 all this week so I thought great going in the right direction. However despite a brisk 2 mile walk this afternoon I am now at 13 pre dinner. Lots of good ideas...

“Rapid-acting” insulin taking hours to work…

Thank you for your support, I don’t mind having the odd bad day but when it turns into a week and I can’t drive the car or struggle to work it gets really frustrating. I really appreciate your kind words, you are right it will never be perfect, I will try not to stress so much.

“Rapid-acting” insulin taking hours to work…

Hi That’s very helpful thank you I have been using each Fiasp for 4 weeks. I am not on a pump, I think I might be having absorption trouble due to the bruising and red lumps, not sure why this has started to happen.

“Rapid-acting” insulin taking hours to work…

Lyumjev is another rapid acting insulin that’s supposed to faster than Fiasp, new this year. I will be asking about it.

“Rapid-acting” insulin taking hours to work…

Hi Amym06 You are not alone, I have been type 1 for only 3 years (19 is an achievement) and switched to Fiasp about 18 months ago for the same reason Novorapid was just taking hours to kick in. Fiasp takes 30-40 mins to kick in for me. It has been great. However recently it’s been taking over an...

    Hypo treatment Slow to act

Hi I have been told not to have any biscuits as they take longer to digest therefore will slow down the absorption rate of anything fast acting such as the coke or sweets that you have just had. My nurse says drinks or jelly babies are the quickest thing. Are you sometimes having a coke then...

Think I'm being thrown out of the Club?

Definitely question this, I had someone else’s blood test results added to my record once! It was only during conversation and the fact that they had been tested for something I don’t have that a nurse realised the mistake. I bet this happens more often than you think.

    Hi I'm New

Hi and welcome I am guessing you are type 2? As you don’t mention insulin. Have you looked at the low carb diet information? Post a typical days food and there are lots of very helpful people who can point you in the right direction to lower your HbA1c This is a great forum for support and advice

trying to figure out how I feel about my endo appointment; next steps

Sorry to hear you are having such a rubbish experience It’s up to you but I would probably let the dust settle, see what referrals arrive in the post, you could always then look the consultants up and make a more informed decision later. You can always cancel later too.

    Ketones of over 1.00

Have you tried eating 3 smaller meals and adding a small snack in between each meal to try and avoid nutritional ketosis? If you ate something at least every 2.5 hours would that help? I have been given this advice after having symptoms of DKA to try and get back on track.

    Ketones of over 1.00

If I am ill and have high BG I often get ketones, usually by 0.6 I can’t stop being sick, over 1 and I have many more symptoms and have to call 111 or 999 depending. They do effect people differently and you often have to take into account the symptoms.

Which BG monitor do you use?

I didn’t know that, thank you! That’s great, much easier!

Which BG monitor do you use?

Definitely check before going to bed, a night time hypo is dangerous and I wake up feeling dreadful on the odd occasion I have had this. At the moment when things are changing for you this is important.

Which BG monitor do you use?

I also have contour next and Libre 2, and a code free for Ketones. Usually the Libre and contour are within 1 mmol of each other. Remember if you are driving you still have to finger prick beforehand. Also if I am ill and going over 13 I find the Libre doesn’t always keep up and I have to double...

    General alcohol and exercise advice

I went to a wedding just before the pandemic, I found out what the meal was, managed to swap the pudding for cheese and oat crackers. Made sure I had eaten some slow release carbs at the meal and took rapid acting insulin, crackers and jelly babies in my bag to cover all possibilities. Checked...

    General alcohol and exercise advice

I can have a glass of white wine and some nice cheese (2-3 oz ) without any rapid acting insulin. Overall this lowers me later so I have to have planned a meal later and take less rapid acting for my meal and add in an extra slow release carb to cover me overnight. A couple of Nairn’s oat gluten...
