Just Started New FAST Acting INSULIN “ Lyumjev “ Any Help Please

Hi I am on Levemir and Fiasp. Fiasp is a lot quicker than Novorapid but my nurse mentioned Lyumjev is supposed to peak even quicker. I know Fiasp is supposed to work in 15 mins although I have to wait 30 mins. I have been on Levemir a couple of years and find I do have to tweak it quite a bit...

    Christmas.

Hi Su Start with your next meal, you have done this before you can do it again. Don’t beat yourself up about it, it’s done. Move forward. Get a few low carb treats in, I always buy the Hartley’s 10kcal jelly that I saw you post a while back. Thanks for sharing that, I add a few raspberries and...

    Ketones and covid

Hi I hope the doctor called reasonably soon, how are you now?

    Ketones and covid

Glad to hear that, watch out for further DKA symptoms Ask how much and how often you should be injecting. I had to set an alarm every 2 hours through the night and inject Fiasp. Hope it doesn’t last long for you.

    Ketones and covid

If you were my family I would tell you to call now as ketones and high blood sugar can escalate into symptoms rapidly, one of which is confusion and if you are on your own better to be on the safe side. My nurse has told me one of the main problems for type 1’s with COVID is DKA so don’t risk this.

    Ketones and covid

Hi I have had high BG and ketones after every vaccine. Do you have a meter or just the urine test strips? I think it depends also on your symptoms, if you start being sick or feel you can’t catch your breath properly I wouldn’t hesitate. However 28.6 is extremely high in my opinion so if you are...

up and down bloods, any help & ideas apreciated

Hi The fact that’s the jelly babies are not making much of a difference and you’re having 2-3 hypos a day makes me think you need to adjust your basal. Maybe do a basal test as Ert suggests as if you do need to reduce this I am sure in the meantime it will be making you feel awful. I had the...

Type 1 Teatime bolus & bedtime test

Yes If I am at 11 mmol or higher and not dropping (I have the Libre) I personally will correct before bed however I need less than I would during the day as I tend to drop slowly for the following 4 hours and as I am not eating or up to keep an eye on things I take probably about half to three...

Not sure if I injected my background insulin

Novorapid lasts around 4 hours and is at it’s peak after 1.5 hrs after you have injected. It’s generally not advisable to inject the same insulin again within the 4 hours (unless you are ill) as you will be overlapping your insulin, this is called ‘stacking’ and you can then have a massive hypo...

Type 1 Teatime bolus & bedtime test

Yes I always wait the full 4 hours having had a few long hypos during sleep at the beginning of my diagnosis which was not good. I make sure I am at 7mmol minimum before bed. I usually bolus for dinner between 6pm and 7pm and then scan about 11pm. If there is any correction needed either way I...

up and down bloods, any help & ideas apreciated

What are you using to correct the hypos? Jelly babies, juice? Is the hypo easily corrected or does it take time which implies your morning basal might be a bit too much if it seems to happen in the afternoon? If you are having slightly too much glucose to correct it might explain you going too...

    Unable to reduce insulin needs

Hi It’s such a difficult balancing act, I wonder if other hormones that control your metabolism are out? Cortisol and thyroxine. Have you had these checked? It’s easy for medication to effect these. Hashimotos disease is an autoimmune disease as is Type 1 LADA so it may be worth asking for the...

2nd Vaccine Dose Reaction/ Symptoms - Do I get Booster?

I do agree with Ert, I think actually having COVID would likely be worse. Despite my reaction I still had my booster about a month ago.

2nd Vaccine Dose Reaction/ Symptoms - Do I get Booster?

Hi Sorry you were unwell after your 2nd vaccine. I think the most important question is what were your blood sugars like? If high were you checking for ketones? Interestingly my neighbour reacted in a very similar way to you to her 2nd dose of Moderna, she is not diabetic, slim and reasonably...

    Mixing Insulins

Hi Yes I had Novorapid and Fiasp for about 6 months. I was using Fiasp for first thing in the morning and pre dinner and Novorapid for lunch. Fiasp suited me better so I eventually dropped the Novorapid.
