    Type 1: Hypo during shower

I'm newly diagnosed so I'm not sure if this could mean you're having a hypo but most of the time when I shower, my legs become bright red and feel prickly when the water hits them. I always test my glucose levels after and I'm always having a hypo. Is this a sign? Has anyone else experienced it...

    Nervous about pump... advice?

Ah that sucks, if I didn't have a choice and had to use one of those tubey pumps, I would definitely stick to injections. I just don't like the thought of something connected to me as I worry I'd get tangled in it and stuff lol. Good luck with your new pump :)

What's the best time of day to take my Lantus?

Thank you for the feedback everyone, as I'm new to this I'm completely baffled and confused lol. I'll speak to the diabetic nurse when I next see her and talk to her about splitting doses and everything else. Because I was on a family visit when sent to hospital, they had to let me out the day...

What's the best time of day to take my Lantus?

My predinner glucose readings are different all the time. I used to have perfect control so maybe my honeymoon period has ended as my bloods are constantly high after meals even though I'm taking the right amount of insulin. I even changed it to times by 8 instead of 10. Another question, are...

    Nervous about pump... advice?

Hey Lucy, I'm 15 and fingers crossed should be getting a pump soon! When the nurse started talking about pumps, I didn't like the sound of it. I thought it would get in my way and I hate stuff attached to me. However, she mentioned another pump called the Omnipod I think? I'm not sure how it's...

What's the best time of day to take my Lantus?

I've been having a problem with my blood sugars around dinner time. I take my lantus before I go to bed but the times are always different. Sometimes I'll be tired around 8 and take it and other times I'll go to bed at 10 and take it then. I notice that 2 hours after dinner, my bloods will spike...

    Diagnosed Type 1 yesterday!

Welcome to the forum :) I've never been terrified of injections so when I was told I had to inject, it never bothered me. You will get used to it soon and remember, don't inject in the same place as this will cause bumps and deformation! And for hypos, as long as you notice when you're having...

explaining what it's really like to live with Type 1

Before most of us became diabetics, we never really thought about or considered anything when shoving food into our mouths. It was natural to us. I didn't know anything about diabetes and I heard from everyone else that too much sugar (which now I kick myself over because it's so **** wrong)...

Newly diagnosed T2 - Blood Glucose Monitoring

The Freestyle Libre is absolutely amazing (out of experience). The NHS are doing trials and I was fortunate to be on the list for 6 weeks and I'm on my last sensor. It's been so amazing just scanning myself which takes 3 seconds then setting up blood testing strips and having to prick my finger...

It really hasn't stopped me from going out to eat at all, I guess the only thing right now that worries me is the injecting in public :)

    Diagnosed Type 1 in October

Thank you :) Since October, I had cried everyday, wondering why I developed it and no one else did. Sadly in my family every generation has the diabetic. I was unfortunate enough to be the unlucky one

    Diagnosed Type 1 in October

I will try and find that book, thank you very much! :) I'm just a little concerned as when I was getting my prescriptions, the woman said that my last appointment was when I fell down the stairs... but my last appointment was actually going in to get blood tests done. :(
