A few asking for low carb food lists....

Thanks for the info robbity, and I'll take on board what you say. I've looked at the list and it's got a lot of things I currently eat anyway, so it will be for some part easy for me. I also love macadamia, pecan and walnuts, some peanuts, though I like all of them unsalted, pre diagnoses i...

Type 2 What can I eat?

thanks seadragon I'll have a look at this site later. I just had my breakfast, I'm assuming that the pdf I downloaded is a guide because most of the stuff on there I could never bring myself to eat i.e. pork red meat, lamb etc etc. I'm strictly a chick and fish person, but I bought the steak...

Type 2 Will higher fat harm my good cholesterol readings?

I very much dislike the American names for items on the shopping list for the beginning of week1 tomorrow I start after spending a fortune at the supermarket on foods, I hope I eat, got back home and had to look up names on google to find out what they were, so I won't be doing well if I have to...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I noticed yesterday when I downloaded the 2 week lchf info that they describe breakfasts for more than one person, one recipe said breakfast (4 servings) 8 eggs, I could hardly believe what I was seeing, then I realized it was 4 servings, whilst I'm doing this on my own, why the heck say 4...

Wholemeal (Brown) bread or Wholegrain bread?

Hi guys and thank you both for the info. I can't eat bread from tomorrow onwards as I've bought all the stuff I need as I start on the LCHF diet on Sunday, after I weigh myself, measure my waist etc - then go for breakfast, so I'll have to give the bread a miss right now, as you're not allowed...

Type 2 What can I eat?

One of the things I used to do an awful lot was walk, either to the woods, along the tree lined streets where I lived until 5 years ago, or along the shore, I lived right almost on the beach, so it was terrific for walking the dogs, and I miss it so much. I may sell this house as I've never...

Type 2 What can I eat?

Hi Tim, you don't say but I'm assuming like me you are Type 2, and whilst I'm unsure, I think if you have a cold it might affect things. I need to lose weight so I didn't like it when the Gliclazide caused me to put weight on, thinking 'well that's all I need' my nurse/practitioner did tell me...

Type 2 What can I eat?

I must admit that I got a shock with my expense at the checkout at Morrisons it was over £100 for week 1, having said that there will be items which will last more than a week, still, it's not a diet you could do if you didn't have a decent income, I'm lucky as I have a good pension, but I can...

Type 2 What can I eat?

Thanks seadragon, i'm just about to go out, I have no idea though what kind of salad dressing I can put on my salads - I adore salads whether I'm on a diet or not, though to be honest these days I prefer to think of it as just a different way of living, but I am no saint, I can't have a salad...

Type 2 What can I eat?

i'm going to do my food shopping at Morrisons today but i'm basically buying all the items I normally buy, but instead of the usual fruits and berries, I'm only buying berries, still amazes me that you can have butter and full fat yoghurt and double cream, but otherwise i'm a big stuck for what...

Wholemeal (Brown) bread or Wholegrain bread?

Before I discovered I was diabetic, I was happily eating bread which was a weakness of mine, together with pasta, since finding out I was diabetic at the beginning of March, not a piece of pasta or bread or potato have been eaten, but I thought due to the fact that I'd read an article somewhere...

A few asking for low carb food lists....

this is a good list and very helpful, a lot of these items are on the LCHF challenge weeks 1 and 2 which I am starting this Sunday, going shopping tomorrow, nice to know I can have cream but there's no mention I noticed of fruit on the list which I love and have become so used to eating all of...

Type 2 What can I eat?

i don't go anywhere now, but often folk at work used to always ask 'how was the festival?" because they knew I loved it and when time allowed I would not miss it - Edinburgh comes to life at that time. I've never been to Aberdeen, but have an ex-colleague who lives there, we keep in touch via...

Type 2 What can I eat?

Hi Seadragon Before I had my tea tonight, which was quickie I just had chicken leg, tomatoes followed by the remainder of my greek yoghurt. As I said before I was for the most part of my life vegetarian but towards the end of last year, I started to add fish and chicken, so I can do fine with...

Type 2 What can I eat?

Afternoon John - yes I remember Slimcea, but you know in those days we didn't know any better, and it is my own personal belief that the reason sadly we see so many young kids and young teens up to 20s so obese is not so much to do with sugary drinks, but because we now have had for a few years...

Type 2 What can I eat?

Hi there, I don't think I'll struggle once I know what I'm doing, the thing is, and I think it's common, we are told we have the condition, and are prescribed for it, but we are not told anything else. Anyway, that aside, I have just been to the dietdoctor.com site, and joined up for the 2 week...

Type 2 What can I eat?

I will certainly return to that forum and read up on it. I am due to see the dietician on 27th at my surgery - not looking forward to this as I believe she will be more concerned by pushing the nhs view and weight issues, rather than what's best for me in terms of losing weight and controlling...

Type 2 What can I eat?

Thanks Phub for the info - I always have pecans and brazils in my cupboard before and since being diagnosed with T2, the only way I would get the proteins is from chicken or fish, as I would never, never in a million years eat any other kind of meat been this way since I was 5 years old.

Type 2 What can I eat?

You do make some good points of course, and I take it on board. I could eat fish and chicken, but I have never even tasted red meat, lamb pork and loads more, but I have had chicken and fish so I could go from being vegi to being peski whats its name! I love nuts - always the unsalted kind is...
