Swelling/edema in my right foot and cold feet - not a clot, kidneys are fine. Anyone else get this?

I'm on basal/bolus and tend to avoid large carb meals. I try to keep my meals under 40g because I do not feel confident injecting more than 4-5 units unless my sugars are high already. I have very bad hypo anxiety because my insulin seems to be very erratic. Some days 3 units has covered up to...

Swelling/edema in my right foot and cold feet - not a clot, kidneys are fine. Anyone else get this?

When it first happened I thought it was linked to painkiller use but I've stopped now and it still seems to happen. Not nearly as bad as that day back in May but it's visible. I am wondering if it is something to do with high blood sugar + heat and not drinking enough water.

Thanks - I had a panic attack earlier thanks to your comment. Please be mindful of what you're posting and whether it's helpful or not. The NHS website for PAD does not list swelling and also the main symptom is pain. mod edit of quoted post

Swelling/edema in my right foot and cold feet - not a clot, kidneys are fine. Anyone else get this?

My GP asked me this and I don't recall anything like that, no. I have been doing a lot more walking recently but that stopped when the heatwave hit lol

Swelling/edema in my right foot and cold feet - not a clot, kidneys are fine. Anyone else get this?

Hmm. I don't think it's that, I can barely function on 6 hours sleep let alone 3. I have no other symptoms of that lol. I have lost a tiny bit of weight but thats because I've been actually trying to and then the tummy bug helped shift that along. Energy levels are good despite the horrible heat...

Swelling/edema in my right foot and cold feet - not a clot, kidneys are fine. Anyone else get this?

Hiya, I don't think I have had anything like that. I had a blood test to check for blood clotting and that was the only test my GP recommended as my kidneys and vitals were OK. I'm not 100% sure but I *think* it swells up when my blood sugar has been high and I haven't been drinking enough...

Swelling/edema in my right foot and cold feet - not a clot, kidneys are fine. Anyone else get this?

I wondered this too as I was taking aspirin every 2 days for neck pain but since seeing a chiropractor I have not had any NSAIDS. I try to avoid them anyway as I have gastritis/reflux and they aren't good for the tummy. Swelling still seems to come and go even when not taking them! I take...

Swelling/edema in my right foot and cold feet - not a clot, kidneys are fine. Anyone else get this?

Helllooo I'm 33 years old female, I've had type 1 now about 11 years and my control in the last 5 has not been good. I got covid in 2021 and it's made my blood sugars even more erratic. I rarely have hypos because my sugars are usually between 10 and 20 even before food, regardless of my Lantus...

Type 1 High blood sugar after chiropractor visit?

Hiya, Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I went to a chiro yesterday for the first time as I have the posture of a cooked shrimp and am having terrible tightness, tension and pain in my suboccipital area and trap muscles causing jaw pain and headaches etc. She did 2 or 3...

12 years into type 1, I finally got stage 1 of diabetic retinopathy in my recent eye screening. I don't know how to feel and I'm scared.

Thanks all :) I did wonder if my eyes always feeling like **** is down to my diabetes. My eyes are so strained and sensitive to light all the time!

12 years into type 1, I finally got stage 1 of diabetic retinopathy in my recent eye screening. I don't know how to feel and I'm scared.

Heya.. I need some reassurance on this if possible and not to panic. My control has been awful since I had covid in 2021 and I hit the 20s most days. I woke up low yesterday, ate about 30g of carbs and fell back asleep, and it had barely raised my sugars by the time I got up but was enough to...

Anyone else have problems with their occipital nerves? I can't seem to find a doctor in the UK to actually diagnose/treat this issue.

Hi. Just wondering if any other diabetics here have occipital problems and how they manage it because I've been off work for 6 months with this and am struggling again on a phased return and it's making me worried I will never get back to full time. I'm a 33 yo type 1 and I've had type 1 since...

Type 1 Does anyone else feel incredibly weak and sick when hungry? *not hypo*

Hey all. I've been type 1 for 10 years now and in the last 5 years my control has not been good due to my insulin sensitivity changing rapidly day to day. My blood sugars are usually good in the morning but spike up the moment I eat anything. In recent years I've developed some digestive...

Type 1 Is anyone else completely intolerant to sun and heat? Is it a diabetic thing?

My GP told me diabetes drains electrolytes because usually our sugars will be higher than normal people. My control is pretty bad so for me I will be walking around dehydrated all the time.

Type 1 Is anyone else completely intolerant to sun and heat? Is it a diabetic thing?

So I don't want to sound grumpy or miserable as I know most people are sun worshippers who love summer. But I absolutely detest it. I can't cope with it at all. I've been type 1 for 10 years now and since I was diagnosed I feel so unwell in the heat and sun once it reaches about 19 degrees...

    Long COVID

May I ask when did you have your initial covid infection? I had covid in November 2021 and my body went downhill afterwards. I had the worst bout of gastritis for a few months, and then I had other symptoms and I'm still not well enough to work and don't feel like the person I was. These were...

Type 1 Libre says I'm rising, old blood meter says I'm dropping?

Update: I'm not sure it was a compression low. I've suddenly become really sensitive to insulin and crashed again without any bolus. The jelly babies took me up to 12 and I went back to sleep, and while sleeping I've come down to 4.4 and confirmed it with a blood test. Guess my basal needs...

Type 1 Libre says I'm rising, old blood meter says I'm dropping?

Omg this is very possible. I chose my right arm for the first sensor because I usually sleep on my left and I proper squish my arm on my left. My sensor is on my left side at the moment!

Type 1 Libre says I'm rising, old blood meter says I'm dropping?

Hey all. I got the libre on may 30th and I've been overjoyed with it so far. Its helped me adjust my basal and also made me notice that one of my daytime vitamins was causing my bolus not to work properly (it had niacin). Sadly my first sensor had to be ended 3 days early because on Friday...

Type 1 Is there a better insulin than Novorapid?

Hey, I've been on Novorapid and Lantus since about 2014 I think. My hba1c have steadily gotten worse over time and now i have the Libre I'm noticing that Novorapid just seems really slow and erratic. I am taking nortriptyline for pain, esomeprazole for gastritis and vitamins. Sometimes...
