Can you get fake readings meaning that you going on in your body

Yes they're called false hypos but that doesn't mean you don't end up feeling ****. I honestly don't know if they're as dangerous as real one's but I guess if you're driving or something like that they could be.

Can you get fake readings meaning that you going on in your body

Yeah many people get that and its likely to be because your sugars have run high for a while and your brain now thinks low is in the teens! Reduce your starchy foods slowly and hopefully you'll be ok. Any worries just go to the docs.

Can you get fake readings meaning that you going on in your body

OK, so first I'm not a medical professional just someone with a lot of experience of all types of DB because my family is full of it (T1, T1.5 & T2). The blunt answer is something is up and you need to get it investigated. A 38 year old 11 stone weightlifter does not fit the profile for T2 in...

Can you get fake readings meaning that you going on in your body

Yeah but 11 stone weightlifters shouldn't be having BG's that high! If you don't mind me asking how old are you and were you overweight on T2 diagnosis? BG's can rise a bit because of illness or infection etc but not normally by the amount you say. On your weight and fitness T2 insulin...

Can you get fake readings meaning that you going on in your body

Ok so now you are sounding like me. If you are not overweight and do loads of exercise and are getting ketones then short term cutting the sugar and starch right out should help however it sounds more like you could be a misdiagnosed and are actually slow onset LADA (T1.5) which is what they are...

Can you get fake readings meaning that you going on in your body

You have been told that starchy foods (bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, flour based ...) very quickly convert to glucose when you eat them - only slightly slower than sugar itself? They are the primary reason BG's rise. Most T2's who want to control by diet have to significantly reduce starchy...

Can you get fake readings meaning that you going on in your body

For a few days cut out all sugar and starch (bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, cereals and anything with flour in it). If you don't see a gradual improvement go back to the docs. I'm having the same kind of problem at the moment and doing the above I've reduced my daily average from an 18 daily...

    Back after a few years

Well in that case I've been doing the right thing for the last few years as that's the starting level we use to recommend during our debates. I never particularly advocated any level of carbs as fundamentally the more important thing is control of bgs and that can be achieved in multiple ways...

    Back after a few years

Was wondering when you'd turn up Desi! Hope you are doing well. Nope no new meds at all. It was all a bit of a surprise as I'd just been getting on with life for the last 4 years. The entire forum seems to have gone lchf or Swedish as I use to argue for. In most ways I'm pleased lchf has become...

Hi Sid hope all is well with you!. Thanks for your kind post it genuinely means a lot to have your support. Yes the DB nurse was suggesting the exact same thing and given the T1 history I wasn't too surprised. I've got some decisions to make in the next few months. I'm seeing a gradual drop off...

    Testing getting me down

Hmm but you guys are all ignoring that he is on a hefty dose of gliclazide. I am very much pro low carb but it needs to be done safely. I'll find you the historic link to a lady who fainted a minute after she got out of her car because her carb intake was too low on gliclazide and it caused her...

    Testing getting me down

Took me 8 weeks of low carbing at 60g / day to initially get my BG's down to safety so keep at it. Not really sure why you doc has put you on Glic as the normal route is Metformin first and then onto Glic if you can't control. I'm not sure I'd recommend going much lower on your carbs while...

    Morning High's of 8ish

Mate I have a Type 1 son (T1 since a teenager diabetic for over 15 years) who also suffers badly from DP and insulin resistance but would never say he's "unfortunate". He just gets on with his life as do I a Type 2 non overweight low carber who also suffers from bad DP. We are all different and...

    Morning High's of 8ish

DP is a real pain in the a**e. I find the quickest way to get BG's down from DP is to actually generate a controlled insulin response to "get things moving". So when its a problem I'll have a few berries in some full fat Greek yogurt and let the sugar in the fruit do its stuff. Around 5g of...

LCHF Diet now been put on Statin

Been taking a statin for on and off for 5 years now on LCHF. Not sure if it does any good but stops the doc moaning at otherwise high(ish) LDL levels. It doesn't give me any side effects and if it did I'd stop taking it. It maintains my cholesterol ratio (which I think is the better measurement)...
