If I'm going to be naughty, when should that be?

Personally, I would have it with my evening meal because snacking between meals is not a good idea for us, especially if the snack is a carby one. All that would do is raise your levels unnecessarily during the afternoon and create an insulin surge that is never a wise thing to do.

Copy of letter sent out to NHS GPs re Shielding (03/04/20)

I wrote the above post on 7th April. It seems some GP's are more on the ball than others.

Should everyone sitting for long wear compression socks?

Also, compression socks need to be correctly fitted. I was given some when I was about to have an operation in hospital. Someone came and measured my legs very carefully, before arriving with the right socks for me, personally. You can't just go and buy any old socks.

Covid-19 Prediabetes Work and Isolation advice???

I don't see anything confusing in that. Diabetes is on the list. Pre-diabetes is not. As you do not have a diabetes diagnosis, it doesn't apply to you.

    At Risk or Not

Unless you have one of the serious at risk illnesses or your HbA1c is very high, you are at no more risk than the general population. Diabetes in itself does not put you in the vulnerable group.

Copy of letter sent out to NHS GPs re Shielding (03/04/20)

My daughter received a letter today (she did not receive the original shielding letter). She has no serious risk illnesses - just a mild form of asthma and colitis. She is not diabetic. For several months she has been on a high dose of steroids for a colitis flare up, and has been slowly...

    COVID 2019 Comorbidity with Diabetes

Well, we now have our Prime Minister in intensive care. I am so sorry for him and worried for the rest of us.

    COVID 2019 Comorbidity with Diabetes

France has the rule that you can only go a certain distance from your home - and it is a very short distance. Every day each person has to complete an A4 permit form with details of why they are allowed out, where they live, and so on. It is so complicated it is putting folk off from leaving...

    Supermarket vulnerable

I think I would check with your GP surgery. All those I know who are in the severely vulnerable group (which does not include diabetics) have had a letter telling them to shield themselves etc. Unless you have other illnesses that are on the list of severely at risk you won't have had a letter...

What do you do during isolation?

I am supervising my hubby decorating the hall, stairs and landing. He has been promising to do this for 18 months and has now started. Gloss almost finished - 8 door frames, 2 large window frames and sills, radiator cover, 2 banisters and 23 spindles. Gardening when weather permits, spring...

    COVID 2019 Comorbidity with Diabetes

@Rachox will be able to help you with some ideas for the meters many of use use on here. Hopefully she will be along shortly. If you self test immediately before you eat, and then again 2 hours (and also even at 1 hour and 3 hours) after your first bite, you will see immediately what that meal...

    COVID 2019 Comorbidity with Diabetes

Have you got your own blood glucose meter? If not it would be a good idea to buy one. That way you can keep an eye on your glucose levels without waiting for the HbA1c test, and you can also use it to test out the foods you are eating to make sure they are suitable for you.

Any T2's managing to get Supermarket Delivery Slots?

I don't go to the shops but hubby does. I could go as I have no underlying health conditions other than being over 70 (I don't count my T2 as an underlying condition), but we decided the risk is halved if only one of us goes. He uses the early slots reserved for the vulnerable as he is also over...

    COVID 2019 Comorbidity with Diabetes

I imagine that you would be hospitalised only if your coronavirus symptoms warranted it, whether you have diabetes or not.

    COVID 2019 Comorbidity with Diabetes

I heard a German doctor saying exactly that in a TV interview a few days ago. He went on to say this would possibly change and the Germans should expect to see a large increase in recorded deaths.

    Post 12 weeks shielding

I understand from what has been said is the 12 weeks will be reviewed when more is known, and everyone shielding will be advised if and when things change, and what to do next. All the rules are subject to review. Have you anyone who can shop for you? Have you explored all the local shops to...

    COVID 2019 Comorbidity with Diabetes

I would like to know the numbers that have been recorded as dying of Coronavirus because they tested positive, but had other serious illnesses. . Just what is being put on the death certs in these cases? Is it the only cause of death, the main cause, or listed as a contributory cause, or would...
