T2: Does anyone have experience of leg pain/tingling

May I ask why you have cut out all fried foods? We need to seriously reduce our carb intake and increase our natural fats - animal fats unless you happen to be a Vegan. A good breakfast or lunch for us T2 diabetics is bacon, eggs, a high meat content sausage, a tomato and mushrooms. Porridge is...

How do you deal with conflicting advice?

Do not worry about what your friends are saying. The foods they recommend are absolutely fine for non-diabetics. They are certainly not good for T2 diabetics. Carry on doing what you are doing - you are doing extremely well. Well done.

    Having an insecure day

I agree. Stressing makes blood sugars worse. :) What you are eating sounds perfect.

Any fish recipes that are easy and quick to do

I am a fan of tinned red salmon. Just as good as fresh as far as nutrients are concerned. Doesn't require any cooking, tastes non-fishy. I add a drop of vinegar, plenty of real mayonnaise, and eat it with any salad items on hand. (usually cherry toms feature).

    hba1c correlation with RBC lifespan

That is exactly what I found when I was using a Libre. However, my Haematocrit levels have always been at the high end of the range. Over the last 8 years they have ranged between 0.40 and 0.46. My RBC and Haemoglobin are more or less in the upper half of the range, so the opposite of yours.

    hba1c correlation with RBC lifespan

My HbA1c has always been higher (significantly) than any other testing method indicates. I learnt this very early on and decided I must have long lived RBC. I simply look at my HbA1c results as a trend line rather than a true result, and it keeps my nurse happy. The only thing that worries me...

Newly diagnosed with very high numbers - confused by symptoms

I also think you are wise. What is the point in taking meds that encourage extra insulin production when you have no idea if you need the extra insulin. Most T2's produce far too much. In my opinion, people should be given an insulin test before Gliclazide is prescribed.

    First post - meter/numbers question

You need to register separately for your test results (and other things) on Patient Access. You do this by asking your surgery for the registration stuff. This involves you completing a consent form and giving some ID. The doctor then approves your request and you should then get them all on...

Newly diagnosed with very high numbers - confused by symptoms

If you did not test yourself virtually at the same time as the doctor did it, then there can be no comparison. Your stress levels will have been raised by your visit, how you travelled there will have had some impact, hanging about in the waiting room likewise. As @Antje77 says, try to test...

    BGL base level high

It is too soon to expect your base levels to drop significantly from such a height. You have only been doing this for a week. Have patience, carry on as you are doing (you are doing great) and hopefully you will see improvement. Some meters are better than others, but all meters on the market...

Newly diagnosed with very high numbers - confused by symptoms

I agree with @KennyA in that patience is needed because our BG's do tend to fall in steps, and sometimes the plateau can be a long time with a sudden drop, then repeat. It isn't linear.

Finger prick BG testing obsession, help please!

I was also obsessed, and a data freak. I recorded all my levels religiously on a spread sheet, every day, and was testing 8 or more times a day. I did this for a long time. I knew it was obsession because my levels never changed much but I still kept going. Then I made a conscious decision to...

Low white blood cell (WBC) count on low-carb diet

I no longer count my carbs. However, during 2014 I dropped to about 20g most days and stayed between 20 and 30 for a long time. I have no idea how many I eat these days, but it is more than that. Definitely under 100g, less most days. My WBC count has been consistent enough throughout.

Low white blood cell (WBC) count on low-carb diet

I have a full blood count (amongst other things) every time I have an HbA1c, which pre-covid was twice a year. My WBC count has always been within the normal range of 4 to 11, and averages over 7. Currently 7.5. I have followed a low carb diet since 2014. I am unmedicated - no prescription drugs...

    Higher results than expected.

Did you water fast for about 12 hours prior to the test? Try inputting your results in this https://www.hughcalc.org/chol-si.php It will calculate your LDL and tell you how you are doing. Then try this https://cholesterolcode.com/new-report-tool-launched/ (don't forget to change the...

    Higher results than expected.

I agree with the others about your HbA1c and the Libre estimate. As for your cholesterol, did you get the breakdown of how the total was made up? You need to know the HDL, LDL and triglycerides before taking any notice at all of the total. The total is pretty meaningless without this...

Newly diagnosed with very high numbers - confused by symptoms

The fewer cars we eat and the less processed food the more salt we need to keep our bodies healthy. It is also known that salt affecting blood pressure depends on whether we are salt sensitive or not. Of course we don't know if we are salt sensitive. I believe I am not because I add salt to my...

Newly diagnosed with very high numbers - confused by symptoms

Hi and welcome. You have received some good advice already. It would help us to help you if you tell us what your current diet consists of - all typical meals and drinks plus any snacks. You say you keep to 100g of cars but this may be too many for you. Whilst it is generally considered low carb...
