pregnancy + diabetes = feeling alone

Hello Charlotte, I'm sorry to hear about your worries. How far along are you? Are you carb counting? I'm type 1 so I can eat my choosing but need to carb count to ensure I don't spike. Is this not the same for you? X

Who is troubled by injecting in public? Just me?

Hello, I haven't been long diagnosed (less than 3 months) but I don't have any issues injecting in public. I suppose in my mind I think if someone has a problem with me doing it then they shouldn't look or they should understand I'm not doing it as a choice and it's something I have to do. I...

    How to meet glucose targets

I'm not entirely sure, but I think I'm just 5 weeks. My cycles have been off since my miscarriage. I've contacted my DSN and she is happy with my levels.

    How to meet glucose targets

You just couldn't write it. Our daughter has got chickenpox on holiday and we aren't allowed to fly home. Going to be here for 7-10 more days. Our hotel is throwing us out and I will miss my hospital appointment with my diabetes pregnancy team. Stress stress stress!!!!

    How to meet glucose targets

Great advice. That has settled my nerves. I corrected today with just one unit as I was sitting high for too long after breakfast (like I say stress was probably the main contributor). It worked to bring me down but took me just into a hypo. Would you advise to correct but if I know it might...

    How to meet glucose targets

Hello all, I have just found out this morning that I am pregnant. I am leaving for a holiday tomorrow so I can't get in to see my diabetes nurse for advice. I was wondering if you could help? I know the fasting, pre food, 1 hour after food and 2 hour after food targets. I have recently started...

    Breakfast Ideas

My new love for breakfast is apple and no added sugar peanut butter or other nut butters. I have that if I'm not too hungry and it keeps me full for a good while. If I'm hungry I have 2 slices of Bergen bread toasted with the peanut butter on and sliced apple on top. It's a really nice mix of...

    Life with Libre

I've just ordered by first sensors as I'm part way through a trial. I really love the Libre and in the 6 days I've had it has changed the way I manage my insulin so much. My readings seem to be spot on or within 0.4mmol part from a few odd readings. Very impressed.

Type 1 - HbA1c and planning for pregnancy

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. It's a very indescribable feeling that, thankfully, many can't relate to. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I visited my diabetic consultant a few weeks ago and he gave me a green light as far as hba1c was concerned. So if it happens I don't have to worry to much...

Freestyle Libre Trail - tips and advice

All sounds very logical. I'll keep a watch on it and if it keep happening around 2 hours after sleep starts I'll call my diabetic nurse and see if she has any suggestions. Thanks again!!

Freestyle Libre Trail - tips and advice

Day 3 - my Libre is working very very well. Within 0.2mmol on most readings. The over night graph is the most interesting for me. It seems that about 2 hours after I go to sleep I have a huge spike from 5ish mmols up over 10 and then a sliding scale down to 5 again for the morning. Any ideas...

Freestyle Libre Trail - tips and advice

Thank you! I didn't know I needed to start it today no. But I did have a shower before going and I haven't moisturised for ages. However, when we did apply the patch the applicator didn't let go and we needed to really pull it off. I think this may have caused it. I'm going to call the...

Freestyle Libre Trail - tips and advice

Just looked at my patch in the mirror after having a long sleeve top on all day and the edges of the sticky bit are already lifted. Does this mean it's going to fall off over night or in the shower?

Freestyle Libre Trail - tips and advice

Thank you for that info. They made me activate the patch at the trial and it's been an odd day for readings. I know people say it takes 24 hours to settle. When I first took a reading my blood meter and Libre were just 0.4mmol apart. I then ate and injected and after 1 hour or so my Libre said I...

Hello, I will be starting a Freestyle Libre Trail today. I was wondering if any current users have any tips and advice for how to use the device more effectively and any issues etc. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Insulin pen and blood glucose monitor case

I put my used fast clicks back in the mesh compartment and my needles too as they have covers in them. When I get home a empty out the used ones. It's the simplest way I've found.
