Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Since the last few tests have been unreadable, well i've got a month until I get my hba1c checked out and hope its fallen into the 14-16% range, had a closer eye on my glucose levels so it should be readable the next time I get my bloods done.

    Approved Non-Invasive Glucometer Project

I suppose this would work in my case because I have constantly high blood glucose levels, and rarely have hypo's. As per the questions: 1 would you be willing to use such non-invasive device? If i had bigger wrists, I have really thin arms which I can wrap my hands around very easily, I would...

Does this happen to all Type 1's...?

Sometimes I wind someone up, whenever they say 'you shouldn't have sugar', I say 'I don't care if I want to kill myself'. As they are doing more dangerous things to themselves like smoking, eating the wrong foods or not eating at all and they have the nerve to tell me to eat properly.

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

I'm going to try and talk a strategy with my dietician/nutritionist, though i've already put together a food diary to catalog my eating habits, as my diabetic nurse has urged me to eat in more structured intervals such as breakfast, lunch and dinner since I am used to just eating at random times...

Sugary drinks tax? What about drinks for hypos?

im a big fan of the KA drinks, however they aren't sugar free and have twice as much sugar in as coca cola, but I buy them mostly cos they are cheap at usually 89p per 500ml bottle, or £1 per 2 litres at a supermarket. I could see a reason if they shot up in price.

What is an acceptable HbA1c ?

i've ran this high for some months now. well the first high hba1c i got was about 9% which was in october 2012, so it sort of went up from there, going up by 3% each year until the hospital nurse gave me a reading in July that couldn't be read by their machine. I guess I just lose all motivation...

    High blood sugar.

Well my meter can only read up to 36mmol/l and I feel fine when it says high, must be some sort of resistance.
  13. nmr1991

    What should my cholesterol be?

I was told mine were dangerously high, over 7.0 mmol/l, they didnt give me any paper or proof, so I can't really benchmark it against anything so I don't know how serious or what impacts it makes, just some of the things my doctor fails to tell me.

self-harming by overeating high carb food or sugar

diabetes has sort of liberated me in the sense that self-harm is easier to accomplish just by eating carbs and not injecting insulin for it. Granted that there are some complications i'd rather not have in the future as a result of a constantly high HbA1c, but i'm afraid thats not motivation...

What do you dislike most about diabetes? Is there anything you like?

Dislike: High blood sugar overtime causes invisible damage to my organs which would be too late to treat. Like: Hypo's allow me to concentrate more.

Would you take a cure if it became available? Curious?

If it involves surgery, then it would be a while for surgeons to get used to the procedure so I will probably wait a few months

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

got a ketone meter today aswell as getting my HbA1c reading which was over 15% as the doctor/nurse said it was beyond what the machine could read, and ketones read as 0.9mmol/l so not that much ketons in my blood

    University worries

I left about a year ago and I liked the independence, although living in halls telling my hall mates or who you might call them that I have diabetes wasn't hard, just tell them while you are introducing yourself or being introduced but I also told them not to worry because I never let my blood...

What to do ? When u see this the moment it hits ?!

Yeah i think my doctors/hospitals in my area only order free meters from companies like accu chek where I requested to have a more comfortable blood glucose meter (which I got for free with some added lancets), however I checked on their website and accuchek don't do meters that check for...
