    Glucose sensors

Hello, If it’s a libre sensor that you are after, I was self funding on and off for 6 months then my consultant agreed to put it on prescription. Each case and CCG varies, you might need to do a course or something educational to learn how to use it etc. (Spotting trends and adjusting insulin...

    CCG IFR timeline

Hello, I think with COVID and what not, it might add more time to get the things we need from our hospitals, taking into consideration we all live in different areas. My case was before COVID, I did DAFNE some time in November(towards the end of November), I think 2 weeks before the course...

If you have a lot of cushions or pillows, keeping it elevated helps as well.

Afternoon everyone, I hope all is well, I had a hypo last night that lasted over an hour. I downed over 40g of carbs and waited and waited. I didn’t get much sleep after that party. Luckily I didn’t over treat, 8.9 this morning.

Hey lee, I’m sorry to hear, would home remedies like having a relaxing bath or a massage help? It could be relaxing to take your mind off it.

Favourite low-carb snacks on the go (no refrigeration)?

Hello, beef jerky? Nuts? Dark chocolate? Flask of chicken broth? (There’s flasks that keep soups warm for over 8 hours), homemade keto bars that you mix and roll into bars and balls?

Newly diagnosed T1D wanting a pump on NHS

With my pump, when you download your BG readings, there’s a mark/symbol of when you’ve changed your cannula, how long you’ve suspended your pump etc on my BG logs.

Newly diagnosed T1D wanting a pump on NHS

My nurse said something similar, if I wasn’t approved for a CGM, they wouldn’t have approved the closed loop pump. It would have been Omnipod, accu check combo and insight and medtronic640 without the sensors, Medtronic 670G without sensors or tandem (hospital was still waiting for more info on...

Hello there, My sensor is a bit off, 6.8 vs 11.1 on my blood meter. I felt a bit thirsty so I went with 11.1 :( Btw my hospital didn’t reply back to me about my soreness. So I guess I’m on my own to figure it out? I’ve read that some people use different cannulas on different areas on their...

Afternoon friends, I was 6.7 this morning but I had my tiny chocolate from my advent calendar. I posted an item to someone and tracking information hasn’t been updated so that’s stressing me out. :( It’s sensor and cannula change day and giving me arm that good old scratch, what a relief...

I think it’s depends on your employer? I guess plan ahead if you can when you get a date for DAFNE. I know some people on my course took it as annual leave for 5 days.

It’s either one day a week for 5-6 weeks or an entire week. They will give you a note to give to your employer so you can have time off to do the course.

Why won't the NHS tell you the secret to treating diabetes?

Hello, it’s hard when someone does not take into consideration that carbohydrates raises our blood sugars, whereas fat doesn’t. I’d say just let them be, what more can we do? We’ll continue enjoying our little to no carb foods because the holidays are coming :)
