24.8 Arrrrrrrrr ! ! ! ! Try going for a couple of ryvita with a bit of cream cheese, or peanut butter, or just a scrape of butter, takes 30 seconds to do that . Grab a teaspoon and a greek yoghurt. You can eat that virtually on the run in the morning. Can't be easy at Uni trying to fit...

    Assistance needed?

Hi Littlewolf. I was anorexic in my teens and early 20s too, I didn't binge or vomit , just ate very little. I am not surprised that you felt dreadful with those readings, its was a huge swing. So, it was probably very much a reactive hypo. 3.1 would be low enough to make you feel a bit...

    Undiagnosed and Untreated

I am not a doctor, but when my TSH went to just over 9 it provoked the endo to phone me at Christmas to adjust the dose, it also made me feel very ill, mine is autoimmune so maybe there is a difference, but I would say that you should get that adjusted.

Hi. I would go along with Diabells suggestion, get a meter , the SD codefree is fairly cheap, and the strips are about the cheapest on the market. Do some tests yourself and see what your readings are, to get a feel for what is really going on. Your fasting is a little bit higher than...

Had blood test - and row with doctor !

Hi nigelho. You are quite right, anyone, type 1 or type 2 on insulin, or insulin stimulating drugs, or someone that over produces insulin, needs to be careful because they can drop uncontrollably low very rapidly if their meal / insulin is not spot on. Its a bit different with those that...

Hi Little wolf. Don't know if they are really reactive hypos or not. First of all what did you eat, and how high did you go at how long after the meal. Next, how low did you go, how long after the high? The SD codefree can show a slightly elevated reading, only by a couple of...

Had blood test - and row with doctor !

Hi Littlewolf. 3s or 4s are not unusual for me, my normal fasting is 3.2 mmol, its now flagged up as too low , but its not really low, as I am not on meds there is absolutely no danger of a hypo. I feel absolutely find with bgs in this level. People usually only feel bad at this sort of...

Had blood test - and row with doctor !

Hi Thommothebear, long gone are the days when I used to do the max heart rate stuff - god I was fit   I used to maintain effort at about 95% max for bursts of 10 -15 mins, the rest of the time at about 85-90%   No now though. Its interesting about the...

Couldn't agree more hornplayer. I am very sensitive to gluten, definitely been feeling much better for having cut it out of my diet, apart from the very rare treat. Had a gluten test , but that was negative (as many of the are) but the gastroenterologist kept running his fingers under my...

    Assistance needed?

Hi again LW. I am sure that I have read on several occasions that PCOS can (not always) be linked to hypothyroid disease - frequently Hashimotos. Guess what, often hypothyroid disease is an auto-immune disease too ! ! People with LADA do quite often get diagnosed with hypothyroid antibodies...

Sorry Alex, I should have a dded 'when its physically or menta lly possible for them t o do so ' - b ut i have a very dodgy keyboard that puts in lots of extra spaces so I have to go back over the who le thing and edit out al l the extra ones and just got fed up with doing it -...

    has the hospital failed me!

Its strange how things seem to have changed. 30 odd years ago, a friend went into hospital for heart by-pass (spaghetti junction) surgery, she was type 1. She asked them to administer her insulin injections as they would be able to reach the parts that she couldn't, there by giving the...

How are things going Littlewolf? I have only just read through this thread, been away from this forum for awhile. It seems that there are quite a number of us that can have low fasting numbers, high spikes that can take ages to come back down and moderate pre=diabetic HbA1cs. I too can pass a...

Tired if cut carbs to low

Hi, I have around 50-60g carb a day, that includes about 20g carb in milk (I drink loads of tea - and I mean loads, about 10 mugs a day). Didn't really have any problem cutting my carb count, but there again I wasn't eating very many to start with. I think if you were on quite a high carb...

Had blood test - and row with doctor !

Couldn't agree more, its pretty damming that its not the first thing that they should tell you to drop. How many people are merrily going on 'eating healthily' and blissfully unaware of what they are doing. All wheat products, spuds etc are now very rare treats. Luckily I found all this out...

Had blood test - and row with doctor !

Thanks for all your responses. I am just keeping things ticking over now, found the worst culprits - carbs of course, but bread in particular, so cut all that stuff out, and really don't miss it either. HbA1c has come down to 6.0 at last test, which is at least in the right direction. Fasting...

thin fit prediabetic - is there hope?

Ahhh, yes, maybe its only milli mol. But when you get a postprandial spike into double figures when consuming only about 20 g of carbs , that isn't quite right is it ? Two slices of bread will put it up to 12 and it will take about 3-4 hours to come back down. The only reason I don't get...
