Burgen Bread Query - Newbie Question

Does your Tesco not deliver? Alternatively, have a gander at baking your own lower carb breads. There is a link to Dietdoctor in my signature, it's a great site for recipes as well as info on low carb. You can access some of the recipes without having to subscribe. Good luck.

Burgen Bread Query - Newbie Question

Sainsburys, if you have one there, sells a Burgen high protein (lower carb) soy and linseed loaf. Some of the supermarkets have caught on and sell there own brand of low carb bread but advertise it as higher protein. See HiLo bread too.

With regard to answering questions perhaps you would care to answer those I have asked previously. I suggest that ketosis within metabolic flexibility is the bodies preferred fuel. Have you seen the research on Type 3 Diabetes? There is emerging evidence that exogenous ketone therapy may be...

Do not presume to tell me that I am confused. And please, stop insulting the inteligence and fortitude of members whose opinions simply differ from your own.

A non Diabetic, fit healthy human can slip into and out of ketosis - nay bother. Young children on a diet that is not overladen with carbs often slip into ketosis while fasting at night as they tend to sleep far longer than adults.

I am still wondering why someone would prescribe a diet lower in carbs to some clients when he or she isn't totally on board with the efficacy.

You might find that you put a little more effort into sticking to a ketogenic diet if you had been diagnosed with a life altering condition such as... er... Type 2 Diabetes.

Just a note about ketones being a "back up fuel" Sorry folks, to go over this again but... The human foetus is in a state of ketosis and the neonates remain so if fed only human breast milk. If ketosis was a back up fuel then why on earth would the body rely on it? Why would our species...

(OMNIVORES / REVERSED / REMISSION) Would This Diet Work for You As A Start

Before dx I might have been a tad reticent about the fat percentage but fine with the protein and carb values. Have to factor in the lifelong indoctrination of the demonising of fat esp sat fat that most of us were exposed to.

Completely ignoring hormonal imbalance, how can you disiss something so complex as the human metabolic system?

Exactly! It is not all about CICO! Give the man a coconut.

You are welcome. And it seems I must now read that foreword.

Might I ask why, all of a sudden, you are quoting lipids? And anyone who still uses the terms "good cholesterol" and "bad cholesterol" is way behind the times in my humble opinion. Please do not misunderstand, I am not dismissing lipids as unimportant, just wondering about the change in tack.

    Mens Neuropathy Concerns

Hello and welcome. May I ask how your blood glucose levels are looking and if you test them at home? It would help us give better targeted advice if you could say which medications, if any, you take and what your diet in general looks like. The more info you feel comfortable with giving then...

    Is this for real?!

It is just appalling that this is still going on. The misinformation will be putting patients quality of life at risk if not their very lives. It is becoming quite clear to me Diabetes care (no matter the type) is misunderstood by the majority of HCPs and that the little they do know is poorly...

    "OK" blood sugar confusion

Sorry to hear about your Dad, hope he recovers very quickly. It is no wonder that you are confused after hearing that a reading in the mid teens is acceptable. In my opinion it is not. I was diagnosed with what would have been average readings of 15 to 20 (obviously, having no idea that I had...

I feel a poll may be in order. It seems to me that the primary goal of a CICO modelled diet is weight loss. The primary goal of a lower carb lifestyle is metabolic health and weight loss is a side effect (albeit an important and very happy one).
