Type 2 Diabetes - It is NOT your fault!

I know that my biggest problems were FBGs and too much weight loss. It seems to have taken me 4x as long to reach non D numbers than other members but I must also factor in the inability to take any meaningful exercise which will, I have no doubt, impacted the time scale. Just goes to show...

Type 2 Diabetes - It is NOT your fault!

If membership reflects the generality of T2 then it follows(?) that a figure of around 20% of those members here with T2 are TOFI. I would posit that this figure would be very much higher in the undiagnosed T2s and as long as a person's appearance is the only reason (or the first reason) a GP...

Type 2 Diabetes - It is NOT your fault!

Interesting idea. Women are of course IR during pregnancy and I would entertain the idea that it would be normal to have a measure of IR in the lead up to winter famine. That winter never comes these days is where the 'glitch' kicks in (possibly).

Type 2 Diabetes - It is NOT your fault!

One question that dogs even the boffins. What came first, the hyperinsulinaemia or the Insulin Resistance? Once that question is definitively answered we can speak of cause. Fault or blaming oneself just doesn't come into the equation.

    Foot care

If this does involve walking over hot coals then I think it is madness for anyone with Diabetes to partake, I would not do it even if I were non Diabetic.

    Diabetics

A lot depends on what type of Diabetes one has, the medication one has to take or the dietary approach (and this sometimes depends on where one is on the 'journey'). These days I think Diabetes has a small place at the back of my mind and that will, I'm sure, never be expunged but I am no...

    Advice please

There is a lot of debate about the exact word to use. People have their preferences between reversed, remission and cure. The nomencalature does not really matter imo the important thing is that we see improvement and better outcomes. Good Luck.

    Ozempic

Here is some basic information. I have no personal experience with this treatment. https://www.diabetes.co.uk/news/2019/jan/type-2-diabetes-drug-ozempic-now-available-in-uk-93805654.html

    Advice please

Dr. Fung is a nephrologist. The man knows his stuff and he puts his patients into remission, fact. I am confused by your comment about being sceptical about 'remission', do you think it an impossibility?

    High blood sugar

You have been trying your best, no failure there. Trying a slightly different approach may prove to be just the ticket. Good Luck.

    High blood sugar

There's your problem. You are concentrating on portion size while ignoring carbs. Pasta, rice and noodles are all high in carbs, you could eat to satiety by cutting the carbs raising the amount of prtein and fats and still lose weight while improving your bg levels.

    High blood sugar

A day or two may not be long enough. Look again at what kinds of foods you are eating and how many grams of carbs are in them. Set yourself a generous limit and then lower that limit as quickly or as slowly as you are comfortable with.

For clarification, are you taking a statin?

    Improving Cholesterol numbers

I seem to remember that there have been a few posts about Sertraline, perhaps you might find some info if you use the search function on the forum.

Any opions on Broghies (Popped grains)

Is it really worth it? The risk of eating many, many more of those nutritionally poor (void?) snackstuffs is quite high. Snacking is not the best way, anyway. Is that 8 carbs each or for two? There are days that I can have fewer than 8g in a whole day. In my opinion sat fat is not a fat...

    Type2, Low Carbing, Komboglyze ?

It could be something as simple as the coating on the tablets that is causing your discomfort. Something that time may or may not address.

Excellent lecture full and easy to follow detail. Last few words of Q&A really struck home.

    A bit of a rant - sorry

I have recently become weary of hearing reports such as yours. DESMOND advocates need to tell their 'teachers' that, actually, they are not seeing any stalls in the progression of complications and drug prescriptions are still rising. Someone needs to ask these advocates just how many patients...

How it has affected to drink a lot of WATER to your GLUCOSE (Hydration / Dehydration)

Drink to thirst. Be aware that one can drink too much and this can have an adverse effect on one's blood pressure.
