    Police Cells And No Insulin.

She delayed the injection because she'd been drinking. Alcohol can make your blood sugar drop, as I'm sure you are aware. In any case, some people have gastroparesis, which may mean needing delayed dosing, so it's not always a good idea to take insulin before food.

    First pregnancy & high sugars!

Hi. I remember having lots of highs in the first few weeks, which worried me rigid at the time. Then things settled for a while, then I had lows pretty much every night when further on. I wasn't on a pump then, so less able to tweak it. Good luck with your pregnancy. Mine turned out ok by the way.

    Heart Attack

My dad had a heart attack at the age of 58 and had a bypass. He lived till 75, dying of complications of mylofibrosis, although he did have heart failure. He worked very hard to get fit and had a walking buddy, he managed his weight very well and was really fit until the mylofibrosis started at...

Your a diabetic you can't have sugar

Anabolic steroids (that some gym buffs use) are a different class of drugs to corticosteroids.

Your a diabetic you can't have sugar

I'm a type 1 and had a course of steroids for Crohn's disease. It made my blood sugar go bonkers and I had to dose like a type 2 while I was using them. I went from using around 30 units of insulin a day to using more like 120. Also I was too ill to do any exercise, so it was a double whammy. I...

    Diabetes has ruined my life

    I myself do eat rice, but if you're a low-carber, it's a good option.

    Diabetes has ruined my life

Chicken shashlik is a good lower-carb Indian option.

    Dawn phenomenon and exercise

Depends on the exercise. For highly aerobic like running or cycling, I would have a small amount of food with a bolus reduced by 25-50% according to the planned intensity. For bootcamp, I would usually be completely fasting or maybe have 1 jelly baby and then eat later after my shower. I don't...

    Half marathon looming

Hello, I'm doing a half marathon next month. I've done a couple already. Be prepared that you might be a bit higher than optimum at the start due to race nerves. I use jelly babies as they're 5g of carb in each so easy to know exactly what you're taking in. During road races, there are often...

    DIAB1 - Driving

Hi, this happened to me too. I've been diabetic for 10 years. After telling them in 2007, I initially had a 5 year renewal, then upon renewal in 2012 they sent me a 10 year license. It was only after reading about the driving rules on this forum that I realized they must have lost some data...

    Freestyle libre overnight readings.

Low readings overnight can be because you were lying on the sensor, by the way. Not necessarily a nocturnal hypo.

Type 1.5 Sterilization for women with diabetes?

I can't comment on persuading the medical professionals (and having multiple health conditions myself, I know they can sometimes be patronising), but with regards to operations, I have had a salpingectomy, IVF treatment retrieving eggs and a caesarian since the onset of my diabetes. If you just...

Freestyle Libre reader vs Glimp app

Hi. I had 2 sensors that continued to transmit valid and fairly accurate data for a week after 'officially' expiring. The last one I had didn't though. Random good batch? I will wait to see what this one does.

I hope the drs can help you and you're feeling better soon. I just wondered though, is there any chance of pregnancy?

Did I accidentally inject Lantus into a vein

This happened to me twice too after injecting into my thighs. I switched to splitting the dose 50/50 morning and tea time. I would never take it right before bedtime. I have a pump now though.

    "Cured" of type 1?

Paul, I haven't had a transplant, but I take immunosuppressants for Crohns disease. I'm not terribly paranoid about illnesses and don't live like a hermit, although the main disease vector is likely to be my reception-age child anyway. I do have the luxury of taking 'breaks' if necessary though...

    Freestyle Libre Re-think...

I've found them to be fairly accurate for around a day after expiry, then they seem to start cycling values.

I just open Glimp on my phone then scan.

    Freestyle Libre Re-think...

Yes, they just work until they don't. They normally stop transmitting a couple of days after they 'officially' expire. But I find they tend to start cycling values before then, so lose their accuracy. Still, an extra day with each transmitter will still save you about £100 over a year ;-)
