Over the moon - my first 6-month review.

Love this and hoping I’ll be able to post sthg similar in 6 months time. This forum has been a godsend for me. Do not know how I would have coped with the shock of my diagnosis without it x

Lol, I’m into process engineering too and always interested in the most efficient & effective way of doing anything :-)

There will probably still be plenty I never understand about this mysterious body of mine and whilst I wouldn’t go as far as saying I’m enjoying finding out, it’s certainly starting to answer a lot x

Thanks. Right now I have absolutely no idea if/when my liver does a glucose dump, just going to keep on monitoring and try to work out what, if anything, makes a difference

Yep. Think I’m gonna give that a go. So far, like you, I’ve been testing as soon as I wake up

I’ve been taking my meter up to bed with me so I can test immediately upon waking. I wonder if having a wee first might make a difference?

Thank you. Like you, I’ve dumped all visible sugar and trying to keep all food choices to those that are <10% carbohydrate. My first post diagnosis HbA1c won’t be til early Feb so fingers crossed I can emulate your improvements. My pre-op HbA1c was 88 and at diagnosis was 78. I’m seeing my...

Sidebar - have you tried LCHF combined with 5:2 at any point? I only ask cos I’ve tried 5:2 in the past. The 2 v low calorie days I can cope with but my results were patchy at best. Thinking this may have been down to still doing LFHC on the other 5 days. So, once my BG is a bit more stable and...

I’ve just tested again (pre brunch) and it’s come down to 7.3

Thank you. This is helpful. I’m so new at this and still very early days for my new regime (less than a week since I started LCHF) that knowing what to expect makes a big difference. I’m going to stick with what I’m doing cos I don’t have enough data yet for my readings to be statistically...

Thanks. Though my waking BG this morning was a bit of a shocker. 5.5 when I went to bed 8.6 when I got up. Do you know why that might be and what I can do about it?

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

8.6 @ 0800. Was 5.5 before I went to bed last night so that’s a bit annoying, especially as my waking BG has consistently been decreasing. Still lower than @ diagnosis tho

I have but not really started using it yet. I already had MyFitnessPal, so sticking with it for now and trialling the free upgrade for a month. Slightly loathed to move to something else as it’s got all my pre diagnosis data in there too

Is it? Sheesh. You’ll have me worrying I’m not doing this properly :-/ I have totally stopped eating carbs, other than above ground vegetables and the DN switched me to slow release Metformin yesterday. I took it for the first time after dinner

So far LCHF seems to be making a difference. BG pre dinner = 6.6 (my first reading below 7) BG post = 7.6 Didn’t go down like yesterday but had more veggies I think. And a swing of <2 so I’ll take that. TYVM

I totally share your frustrations, but being such a newbie to all of this, I’d really struggle to offer you any advice. Though already the reading up I’ve done on people’s experiences tell me to be very careful of thinking through the implications of taking any medications. Lots of people on...
