    NICE guidelines & HbA1c testing

Ok, if your controlling your hba1c with diet alone, and the numbers are still below 50, then they won't favour testing more than once a year. You aren't in a place where they will want to keep that close an eye on you

    NICE guidelines & HbA1c testing

When you go onto insulin, you have to test within 2 hours of starting your journey, and stop every 2 hours to test. Remembering to test every morning and every afternoon at the end of the working day is a bind. You also have to test twice a day irrespective of whether you are driving to retain...

How many times does everyone check their glucose levels every day?

I get 'secondary indicators', but they are primarily neuropathy in my calves when running high . I get a bit shakey when I go lower, but not in the hypo range, so a good warning. My hba1c was up to 75 before I started insulin, but now the neuropathy is in abeyance. So it's the right thing to do

C Peptide Results are in- I'm producing a good amount of insulin! Type 1?!

It's actually significantly better than the one I left. I suspect it's just my health trust penny pinching and the C peptide test being under the radar right now. I only heard about it from here a few weeks ago. I'll look to get it done at one of the Spire medical centres. They charge £170

C Peptide Results are in- I'm producing a good amount of insulin! Type 1?!

This is I guess good news. I have been T2 for 12 years, and suspect I have a high degree of insulin resistance. O went onto insulin last month. My doc refused to put me forward for the C peptide test when I asked citing cost and because 'it's only called for checking if corpses have been...

How many times does everyone check their glucose levels every day?

3 to 6 times per day. 7.8 on waking this morning. I drive from time to time with my job, so test around the rules regarding being behind the wheel

Type 1 Day 2 low carb, but still needing large levels of insulin? High BG levels

I'd suggest that you still have an amount of glycogen in your liver which your system is pulling out on demand

I'm figuring now that the c peptide test can give me answers which a considered opinion cannot. The test is being offered by the Spire private healthcare group. It may be something for me to consider if I can't get it done on the NHS. I am a prime candidate for the thin/fat Indian syndrome as...

Just had a decent conversation about this. He said that despite being the diabetic lead in the practice, he'd never seen the c peptide test offered by the health trust. I asked him if I had significant insulin resistance and he was emphatic that lack of insulin is my problem which is being...

I've got a follow up appointment with my doc this afternoon. I don't think the slow release Absalagar is giving enough control, but it is helping

My Doc reckons it's an average of 10 years from diagnosis to starting insulin. I've been on Metformin since 2007, and now So what is the solution for insulin resistance if this is the case ? my BMI is 20.8 at the moment

I started off with diet 12 years ago. I went low carb and whilst it made a difference, wasn't enough. My BMI is about 21 and the most it's ever been was 23. my last HBa1c tested at 75. It's not my case of too much body mass for my own insulin to go around, and my weight has dropped 10 lbs over...

Hi, I'm on Absagalar with 4mm needles. They are tiny but still felt tender going in, and drew blood for the first time last night . I need a steadier hand, and yo be more gentle pushing the plunger
