    Statins and type 1

@Zinadane Unfortunately I have to disagree with the statement that Crestor does not cause muscle pains.

    Kaleido Pump

I've been on the T:Slim X2 since March & I'm very pleased with it. Was updated to Basal IQ which attempts to stop low blood sugars or at least make them less serious. Works better than I expected. There will also be an upgrade to Control IQ which tries to deal with highs. That is being released...

    Pumping Fiasp... Unexplained highs

I sympathise. I am much more insulin resistant if I get high & have to be more aggressive with my corrections. I use a Tandem pump & some people maintain that it's rather slow infusion rate doesn't help. I'm not sure. For me the best answer is not to get high in the first place.. easier said...

    Tandem Control IQ video

For anyone who is interested (@Capt-Slog ?) Tandem have released some videos with instructions on how to use Control-IQ, their hybrid closed loop system. It will probably be a long time before we get this in the UK (starts January in the US) but still interesting.

Tandem's Control IQ approved by the FDA in the USA

The FDA has now approved the "closed loop" Control IQ technology for use in the USA. It will be a free download for existing Tandem t:slim X2 users. https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/fda-authorizes-first-interoperable-automated-insulin-dosing-controller-designed-allow-more-choices

Splitting Lantus to stop dawn phenomenon

In that case I'd say don't worry too much especially as you are fairly newly diagnosed. You are obviously working hard at your control, which is great. It's easy to obsess about these things. Many people have mountains not hills on their graphs!

Splitting Lantus to stop dawn phenomenon

Hi. I'd second what others have said. You said you'd gone up to 8.4. Does it continue up?

    Dexcom G6 with t:slim X2 and xDrip+

Not sure about "early" next year, it's not out in the USA yet (any day now). We got Basal IQ more than a year later than our American friends. Part of that was because they had to change the Tandem Device Updater software - we have that now, so maybe it won't take quite as long for Control IQ..

    Dexcom G6 with t:slim X2 and xDrip+

@Capt-Slog I think I saw in one of your messages that you have a Bluejay watch? Did you get it working with the G6? I find it does have some "range" problems & will miss readings when I don't think it should - it's on my wrist, it can't really be far from the sensor! Overnight I use it a bit...

    Dexcom G6 with t:slim X2 and xDrip+

@Chas C I've been using the t:slim X2 for about 8 months now & I'm very pleased with it. I came from MDI & the ability to fine adjust basals is wonderful. I was sceptical about how well Basal IQ could work given how simple the algorithm is but it does make quite a big difference. The secret is...

    Background Retinopathy

"I’m really pleased! Think it’s reassuring to know it can improve." @Rose22 It is! My suspicion was that once you'd had it diagnosed, they automatically left it in the letter whether they saw evidemce or not.

    @DCUKMod Thank you.

    Background Retinopathy

There is nothing on my "Patient Access" medical record about my eyes.

    Background Retinopathy

Thank you all. Interesting to hear that some people have been given a clear diagnosis. I have it done through the NHS . The first report worried me but not since. When I see my "usual GP" (who I haven't met!) I'll discuss it with her.

    Background Retinopathy

After my recent eye photograph I received a letter stating I have background retinopathy as I have for the last 10+ years. Since they started using digital photography I've asked the photographer to show me the problem area. They always tell me they can't see anything. Nor can my optician who...

    Upgrading the 640g to 670g

@aphex2k Sounds like a rough time, hope you feel better soon. Cannula problems can happen with any pump I guess, but it sounds to me that generally the sensor is the biggest problem. If Medtronic had made the decision to go with Dexcom, especially now the G6 with no (or very few) calibrations...

    Hypo Warning Signs

Sort of glad I'm not the only one! Mine is definitely connected to low blood sugars.

    Hypo Warning Signs

That sounded very unpleasant to say the least. I've always had good warning signs - my worst hypos being overnight. A really nasty one, on my own, in a hotel, persuaded me to fund a Dexcom CGM.

    Hypo Warning Signs

It's strange how different we are. Just to add another twist to my warnings I recently had a cataract op & the visual sign is the same, but happens at a a higher BG - sometimes 4.5 or more. I get all the other signs - shaky/sweaty/hard to think etc as I get lower. Oh yes & & very hungry of course.
