Dexcom G6 help for beginner - Phone/app issue

@The Len Ganley Stance There is a "hacked" version of the Dexcom app which works on most Android phones: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScD76G0Y-BlL4tZljaFkjlwuqhT83QlFM5v6ZEfO7gCU98iJQ/viewform You would use it at your own risk but it seems to be used quite widely. I do think Dexcom...

    Which pump should I choose?

I'm using the Tandem t:slim x2 & I'm very happy with it. It's my first pump so have nothing to compare it with though. I selected it because it's upgradeable - no waiting 4 years for a new pump. The first software upgrade arrives later this month - predictive low suspend (Basal IQ). Next year it...

Please help me first time pump

I know what you mean - I've only been on a pump for a few months. I'm sure any pump will help stabilise your blood sugars, though it does take a while to get all the settings "right". The Libre will be a big help though. Good luck!

Please help me first time pump

I know it's not on your list but it's worth knowing what other options are out there. The Tandem t:slim X2 pump will soon be linking up with the Dexcom G6 sensor here in the UK, not sure about Ireland. Initially it will just try to prevent lows, but next year will be updated to a full hybrid...

    Advice on pumps with FIASP

Fiasp is not approved for the Tandem t:slim x2. Some people use it but have to change sites more frequently as I understand it.

    New Junior Dr diabetes Handbook

My ex was a nurse so I know about the August changeover - not a good time to go into hospital! You are right about the cost of updating manuals, but this is a NEW handbook..

    New Junior Dr diabetes Handbook

From the Diabetes Time - New Junior Dr Handbook for inpatients: https://www.inpatientdiabetes.org.uk/insulin-and-insulin-safety Take a look at the animation half way down. I suppose it's good they are doing this. Unfortunately it is needed. The insulins they mention Humulin I & Humulin S seem...

    Tandem t slim

Hi @alohanicky2009 I suggest that you join the Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/TandemUK/ There's an ongoing thread about which areas it's available in. I've been using one since March & I'm very happy with it. Apart from training, I haven't needed to test their customer support yet.

Any Idea’s On Rising BG Overnight

Hi @A33Peter, that's an interesting graph you've got there! Is it a one off? Put it down to diabetes being stupid as usual! If not, then what insulin are you using & when? That would be a very big & early dawn phenomenon - climbing about 7mmol/L. Possible though. I wonder, could the graph be...

    Taking Medication Abroad

My pump manufacturer (Tandem) supplied me with a letter for airport security. Haven't used it yet though - next week.

    Pump start

I was using Levemir & missed the morning dose before starting the pump. However my appointment was at 2:00pm so perhaps you need to miss both, or possibly something like a half dose the evening before? Whatever you do I'm sure your trainer will be able adjust for it. I found the first couple of...

    Dexcom g6

Most people self fund. The NHS may fund a Freestyle Libre if you "qualify". Dexcom charge £159/month.

@Sideburnt Do you have a NightScout website? If so you may be able use AutotuneWeb to help analyse basal rate, I:C ratio & insulin sensitivity. You do need to have entered lots of data into the Nightscout Care Portal though.

    Hairy Pumper

@Capt-Slog I'd estimate about £120/month. It very much depends on how much you can extend the sensors. That figure also includes transmitters which are more expensive than with the G4 because they only last 3 months. Again I can extend them to around 5 months. I used to get the batteries...

    Hairy Pumper

There are ways of restarting sensors, particularly easy with xDrip+. You do so at your own risk but it makes a big difference to cost. - as mentioned in my pms to you @Capt-Slog !

    Hairy Pumper

I do shave the area. I then try to let the skin "settle down" for a while before inserting a G6 or cannula, perhaps even doing it the day before. Also use an alcohol wipe & only occasionally suffer from any itching even after 18 days or more with the G6.

    Insulin Pumps and Rollercoasters

I use a Spibelt overnight. It would probably do the job for you.
