Yes, it is bad here, but it’s patchy. Where we live, in the South East, it’s been very bad but some parts of the country have been unaffected. We’re told that the army will be joining the tanker drivers to deal with it. The main problem seems to be that we haven’t enough HGV (heavy goods...

Good morning Karen, good morning all. @Japes, you should be released from work for an essential medical, including eye check, appointment if you can’t get a different time. I know it’s hard to put yourself first when working with people who need you. It’s a big decision that feels all wrong...

    Pus at pump site

Have you any pain, or swelling on the side of your abdomen that creates the pus? Do you have anything, a buckle, change in a pocket etc that could be causing pressure on or interaction with the pump that side? Might be worth asking for a GP examination of the area too.

Just when you think foot on the floor’s a regular thing it says it’s not. Not today. Can I put a foot near the floor without falling over? Thank goodness some predictive god made jelly babies. I’ll be with you soon floor.

This is the first time I’ve heard of it being carried out in this way. For me, it’s usually recorded on the Patient Access app. Maybe Healthy.io is another similar system that GPS can utilise?

Good morning all. Also a winger! I wonder how many of us there are? The one size fits all stuff just doesn’t work well enough, so it has to be sugar surfing and testing out the kind of day it is. Stores of various carb content things essential, especially if a new lot of goodies to try appears...

Oh that bright blue sky and all that sunny light @Marie 2. It’s very different from the scene outside the window here where the deciduous trees are moving inevitably towards the autumn leaf shed. Your plants look very cheerful, they’re so green! I appreciate your desire to rid the plot of...

Good evening (in the part of the planet that’s spinning away from the sun). I cancelled/deferred the mud pies gossip session - ceramics group for those who’ve joined us recently - that’s due to start on Monday and the relief is blood sugar bliss. Gut feeling this time. I’ll go back when my gut...

Good morning Karen, good morning everyone. Lots going on, and I missed it all so exciting catch up reading. My life’s a bit dull compared a lovely wedding (sounds wonderful @Nicola M) , taming a new pupil and keeping a business going single handed (good luck with those @Jaylee and @Japes). All...

There’s a honeydew melon in the greenhouse grown from a lockdown home delivered one’s seed, and it’s fruited. The fruit’s growing. Keep the collective stars’ fingers crossed that there’ll be enough warmth for it to get big enough to eat.

Not a thing, and it’s still tiny. It’d have to grow beyond the greenhouse’s capacity to achieve flowering and fruiting. I’ve seen fruit on avocado trees in Greece, and we used to be brought bags full of gloriously large and creamy fruit from a friend who lived and worked in Kaduna. I’d also...

I find avocados can also germinate in a warm old-style compost pile. Our Greek friends have germinated them using your method @Juicyj and planted them outdoors; last time I was there I was filled with envy of their 6ft trees. One’s grown in the greenhouse here, it loses its leaves during the...

Good morning Karen, good morning everyone. Jellybabies stayed safe from sudden death last night, I can almost hear them celebrating in the bedside container. Hope everyone else’s jellybabies have survived to party for another day. There have been tree surgeons next door but one every day this...

I should have said my poor hard working endocrine system, still trying to do its best without the Beta cells. I’m tempted to make an impolite comparison between the work to do when Beta cells are missing and a few human situations but that would probably get me told off, or banned. I did do an...

I hope that one jelly baby will raise bloods by one and a half mmol, but it can vary depending on the stuff my endocrine system’s up to.

Yes, I do sometimes get lows. The 10:1 carb:insulin works fine most of the time but there are occasions when I wish I had a quarter unit pen, not a half unit one. I also sometimes have to decide whether to eat a jelly baby’s head or its feet for a correction. However, I’m rarely perfect.

I still use the Libre 1, and I set the alert range at 4.8 to 8.2. I tell myself that it gives me time to correct, but I’m thinking of reducing the high alert to 7.8. Since there’s a 15 min lag between interstitial glucose and blood sugars, the lower alert might give me more time to catch it if...

    Bolus Insulin not working properly

Hi @SamFlood, it might be a good idea to get in touch with your DSN and ask for a guide to basal testing. It’s a method to show whether or not your doses are right. It involves splitting the 24 hours of the day into four six hour periods during which you don’t eat anything and just watch what...
