COVID vaccine and extremely high blood sugars

Hope you don’t get a nasty reaction tomorrow!!! I’m feeling much better now, it hasn’t lasted as long as after the first dose but will wait to see when blood sugars settle down.

COVID vaccine and extremely high blood sugars

I had the second dose yesterday and my blood sugars are raised today but that may also be because I’ve got the lightheaded reaction, again, and am mostly staying still. It doesn’t help that it’s a lovely day and I’d really like to be out and about. Tomorrow WILL be better.

Argh, really hope the squeezing works. If I weren’t feeling lightheaded after the second dose of AZ I’d be doing a healing dance for you, and all T1s who feed an infection with high-sugared blood.

Healthy snacks for hypos and to keep blood sugars in range

If I want a quick glucose burst then the go to is jelly babies, which are just sugar and an agent to create the jelly, but dates, apples, oranges, pineapple, plums, dried figs and fruit juice will be a treat for a slightly slower rise. Jelly babies are easy to carry around if a few are put in...

Had a search for moderator voting and failed to find it. Bah! I did see, though, that there are twice as many robots checked in right now than members - ok, own up, which of you’s a robot? You’re not allowed to call yourself one if you still have a human brain as well as the cyber sensors...

Morning all, how are you today @urbanracer? Thanks for the reminder about the mod vote @SueJB

Hello again @MeiChanski, nice to see you here again. Sorry you’re having pump issues; happy to raise a sugar free glass of something (not alcohol, second vaccine jab today) to celebrate the completion of therapy. Do you think it’s helped?

Just caught up with previous - have to wish you a Hattie Jaques lookalike as Matron @urbanracer. And I challenged you to say ‘Oooo Matron!’ anyway to all the female nurses. Get that thumb better. Poor guy who fell off the conservatory sounds in a really bad way, next up you’ll have a chain...

I’d have sent hugs to you and Mrs Urb yesterday but I’ve only just clocked in again. I expect you’re now settled in a hospital bed with a wheely drip stand to roll with you to the bathroom etc. I hope you could sleep, hospitals can be so noisy and the lights are always too bright. Really...

It’s a great one to show what hard work it is just staying in range @Marie2. I’m surprised they didn’t feel nauseous after three doughnuts, T1 or no T1.

    Standalone watch for Libre 2?

From what you and Antje say I think the bubble will be the answer if there’s no alternative to Libre 2. I look forward to hearing how you get on when you receive it.

The long eggplant sounds great, I must try and source some seeds. I usually cheat with cilantro, parsley, and buy a pot of it in the supermarket. The pots usually contain lots of little plants which have been crammed in and I transplant them, same with coriander. It saves all the business of...

Yes, I’ve grown bell peppers here, I had them in pots on the kitchen windowsill when we first moved in 41 years ago and they gave us winter fruit as well as being glorious to look at. I love the pointy shaped peppers and am trying to grow those from harvested seeds. I thought melons would be...

    Standalone watch for Libre 2?

I’m following the tech help as well as I can in case it becomes a necessity for a Libre 2. Thank you @nutribolt and @TimLibre. I have an Apple phone, with fairly straightforward Bluetooth yay or nay requests on apps, and I’ll have another look when my brain’s had a dose of caffeine o power it...

Good morning everyone. Misty one here. Like yesterday’s morning. I carried my phone around with me all yesterday afternoon waiting for a phone consultation with a doc about my hip - feel as though I’m getting to be a proper crumbling old ruin. He didn’t call, bah! It’s slightly unnerving as...

Don’t give up. An infection, a vaccine inspiring another immune surge, some antibiotics, anxiety from it all, maybe they’re ganging up. Hope today goes better!!! How’s your thumb? Is it improving?

That’s awful and very disconcerting, to put it mildly. Have you had low blood pressure before? I had a similar thing after the first dose of AZ - advised to keep intake of water up.
