    Please help irrational BGLs

Sometimes MDI just doesn’t match what a fully working set of islets would sort out without you knowing. Commiserations @O_DP_T1 If I were trying to find solutions I’d look in turn at diet, doses and activity. Take diet, you say that you’re training; are you also eating for energy and muscle...

Hypo - Lost all feeling in my right side

I’ve not had those symptoms since the very early ‘70s, when recently diagnosed, and the only way of knowing sugar levels was a pee test. It’s very frightening to lose the use of limbs through hypo, especially if you don’t really understand why it’s happened. Have you got a way of getting alarms...

    NHS artificial pancreas roll out.

Unless you’re one of the ones who’s too old to qualify for the initial rollout and time runs out . . .

    Great results @jaywak

I was told my control is too good for my age.

I think Libre readouts are based on the range you set, mine’s 4.8 - 8.2

I was told my control is too good for my age.

My 90 day Libre results: > 13.3. 0% 8.3-13.3. 17% 4.8-8.2 67% 3.9-4.7. 11% <3.9. 3% T1 D for 54 years; cognitive decline? I’m hoping none, but you’d have to ask my husband, if you trust his answer. Not sure about Libre’s cognitive ability, or have my maths skills declined?

For the type 1s only please (mounjaro)

I’ve just found this which says JDRF has funded the research. (2023) Has anyone seen JDRF’s reaction to the results?

For the type 1s only please (mounjaro)

Have the ‘proper randomised control trials’ been conducted yet as advised in this response to Colorado Uni’s research? https://www.news-medical.net/news/20240322/Study-evaluates-the-use-of-tirzepatide-in-overweightobese-adults-with-type-1-diabetes.aspx

For the type 1s only please (mounjaro)

Maybe, just maybe, so far no one in this T1 community has stepped forward to share their experience of mounjaro, is a sign that it’s very very rarely given to a T1. Are there any other ways that you could address the issues your endo prescribed it for? Perhaps some of us have also had these...

Is there anything better than fiasp

I find personally find that Fiasp works well though it’s slow to get a grip on high blood sugars and can dump me in the hypo arena if I wait too long before eating. If it were me, I’d suspect that I needed to adjust my basal dose. This can best be assessed by a basal check. It’s probably best...

    Thrush

I don’t know how old you are @Michellelake, but if you need it there’s also a vaginal pessary doctors can prescribe that help lubricate to prevent the yeast entering. Ask them about it?

    colonoscopy preparation

I had a colonoscopy about five years ago. I took a slightly lower dose of basal (I’m on MDI) and corrected when necessary. I also had a couple of cans of lucozade as well as the glucotabs and boiled sweets for lows. Plus water. The only good thing about having to deal with blood sugar levels...

    Took wrong insulin

PS, I’ve done that too, with Fiasp instead of Levemir and by the end of the night I was sick of stuffing jelly babies, cake, jam sandwiches and biscuits in my mouth: how did I wolf down those things at parties when a child and still want more! The next day I took basal as usual (Levemir has a...

    Took wrong insulin

If your blood sugars have steadied now and you’ve stopped having to frontload carbs then you may be out of the woods. How are your blood sugars now? Your post is lucid which is a good sign. It’s still a good very good idea to contact medical professionals asap for advice and reassurance...

    Type 1'stars R Us

Priceless. I had one of those dafties too, a note from the hospital lab after an HbA1c result of 42: ‘monitor and test for Type 2 Diabetes’.

    TMG and T1D

It’s an interesting reaction. One way of finding out if it’s a fluke would be to request a C-Peptide analysis. Another way to determine if someone’s Type One, though it may be too late for you, is a GAD test

    Newbie here.

A Frio will keep insulin cool when it’s out of the fridge. Lots of us use them, they can be ordered on the net. There’s also support for finding the amount of carbohydrate in foods in apps like Carbs and Cals, which is the one I use. Others will no doubt tell you what they find best. It’s very...
