    Diabetes Burnout.

I just looked, you are forty two! If you are old there is no hope for me at sixty five. If I had the good fortune to be offered a closed loop pump (unlikely but hey you never know) I would run to accept. My mantra is you are never too old to learn. And you certainly are not. My brother fifty...

    Freestyle Libre 2 plus

Don’t personally want an extra days wear. I like to change mine on the same day when it is convenient.

Non-diabetics telling me how easy it is!

As a type [emoji637] I would say, “Ok then, how much insulin should you take if you do that?” That should soon shut them up.

    Lidl Greek Yogurt

As a big weekly Lidl shopper can I just point out that virtually all products mention Ireland on their packaging. The yoghurt is actually made in Telford which I believe is in Shropshire.

    Newly diagnosed and totally overwhelmed

Hi @lizcoop I was diagnosed @ 54 eleven years ago this month. Yes it is an absolute pain, it is relentless and there are good days and bad days. As @Juicyj says, at the end of a bad day forget it and start again afresh the following day. There is nothing you can do about it, just learn from it...

    Glucose Variability

Hi @billpearson we are now able to have a choice on Libre/Dexcom. It is in the guidelines. If you ask for it they cannot be awkward about prescribing. Sounds like they are putting too many obstacles in your way.

    Libre 2 and waterparks

Yes perfect for swimming. But find I need hubby to put them on for me.

    Activating libre 2

I always put on [emoji638][emoji640] hours ahead. Unless I’ve had to change a faulty one. Not only do I find them more accurate, but as I am wearing one constantly, I can activate immediately the other ends, whilst still sat in bed the following morning.

New Patient - Shock to the system

Hi @DJA-440 I think the most important thing is the correct diagnosis. They have given you insulin which suggests they suspect you are a type 1 If it turns out you are ultimately a type 2 then diet will become absolute key. I would be very wary at the moment about going very low carb whilst...

    Insulin sensitivity

Have had similar issues myself @Zinadane and am on the same insulins. HbA1c has also crept up to 52 (though I have had ridiculous amounts of stress the past year) my TIR is good though and like @Juicyj says that is considered the important goal these days. In frustration I did a couple of fast...

    Type 1 Changing diabetic clinic

I have yearly appointments, the last 5 have been by phone. Started during covid but continued. All blood tests done at the Gp and shared. The reason being that they look at my Libre results and am assessed as having good results and low down in the need for a face to face. During these...

    Libre II sensor infection

Years ago I had problems with Libre and took to spraying Cavilon under which solved the problem. They changed the glue and I no longer need to do this. In fact apart from a shower before a new sensor I don’t use any sterilisation. In the Uk we no longer get a wipe in the box. Interestingly...

Weight loss as a Type [emoji637]

Hi TonyBlue without hooking the carbs and upsetting your good control I would up the fats. Butter, cream, cheese, nuts. Just bear in mind that fats with carbs slow down the carb absorption speed.

    GP ignores me

Sounds inept to me. It should just be put as a permanent change on the repeat prescription by the in practice pharmacist. So it is permanently there.

    Christmas pud

@Richard F it would be the brandy butter. It would slow down the absorption big time. Had the same issue with the cream on mine. I make my own lower carb version but it still required some insulin. I waited a while then took some insulin. Unfortunately it still came back to bite me in the night...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

@Annb just seen your post on Age UK and wanted to say I used them to help with claiming attendance allowance for my father. They were amazing. Prior to that they spent a lot of time on the phone with my husband giving very valuable advice and pointing us in the right direction.
