Hit me with your low carb lunches!

Wow, that looks amazing. My mouth is watering over the dessert especially! So lucky you can have that. I've got a fatty liver and high cholesterol (gene), prediabetic...etc...eating is not fun for me...

New prediabetic - Advice on eating & snacking

Thanks again Jo. Wish you were right beside me so that I can just fall into your arms for a big hug...at this point, I need it. Every time I eat something, i think of what my insides are doing to this food that i'm feeding my body...like I picture the liver, the pancreas, etc...like an animation...

New prediabetic - Advice on eating & snacking

Hello! It's amazing you have beat your prediabetes with the keto diet. I wish I could, but my insides are not co-operating, like I am doomed to be like my mother with all the genes that she's got. I mean if I ate eggs every day, my cholesterol would be through the roof without going on...

New prediabetic - Advice on eating & snacking

Thanks Helen for your kind reply and link to lowering cholesterol. The thing is, I was doing all that and what was upsetting was when the GP said it's genetic, and even doing all the "right" things, I'd need statins eventually. And the diet in the link, I can't even eat any longer because of...

New prediabetic - Advice on eating & snacking

I was always told to not have eggs when one has high cholesteral? Or to limit to 2 a week only? GP wants to put me on statins because of the cholesteral gene...so devastated. Eating lots of nuts too, flaxseed, hempseed and chia. Maybe that's why my liver can't empty those fats fast enough as...

    Carbohydrate recommendations

Also, want to add that for breakfast, I have porridge made out of fatty flaxseeds, hemp, chia, almond meal, shredded coconut with pumpkin seeds and walnuts. Thought this was good for me....

    Carbohydrate recommendations

Hi, struggling with a A1c of 6.1 that remained unchanged for 6 months since cutting out complex carbs, and limited fruit to 2 pieces a day (2 slices of apple in afternoon, raspberries in evening). Now found out that I also have genetic high cholesteral and fatty liver. Does eating fat cause...

New prediabetic - Advice on eating & snacking

Hi Jo, Thanks so much for your constant support during my miserable posts. You are so positive and i wish I could be strong like you. I don't know what else to do anymore. The cholesteral and fatty liver is also genetic, which all leads to the pre-diabetes diagnosis 6 months ago. So...

New prediabetic - Advice on eating & snacking

Please let me know what I can eat for cholestral and fatty liver combined! I tried looking up diets for prediabetic, cholesteral and fatty liver, and each one contradicts each other. Like grapefruit is good for fatty liver, but not for the prediabetes, and legumes is good for cholesteral instead...

New prediabetic - Advice on eating & snacking

Hi again, have been off for awhile, going through alot of issues at the moment. Got 6-months blood results back and was devastated to find that H1c did not improve at all, despite my cutting out of complex carbs (love for quinoa and brown rice and gluten-free pasta went cold turkey), all fruit...

    A1c test tommorow

Hi everyone, was off for awhile with other issues. I just had a 6-month A1c blood test and it came back exactly the same as it was 6 months ago at 6.1. I am so discouraged as I had cut out all grains, alot of fruit, legumes, and sweet potatoes these past few months, and the numbers did not even...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Just had 3 pieces of lindt 100% dark chocolate and feel so guilty about it. This is after a late breakfast of egg mushroom spinach omelette, 1 whole avocado and 1/2 cup of legumes sprinkled with everything but the bagel seasoning. Some pressed cottage cheese with pumpkin seeds and cinnamon. And...

    How to tolerate hunger

Thanks for your response. Would you mind if I ask when you were diagnosed? Did you have any symptoms? In my case, it was just through random bloodwork since I have to check my hypothyroid levels. What was upsetting was that my GP didn't even point it out that I was prediabetic, had his...

    How to tolerate hunger

Hello, my bloods came back as borderline diabetic, so no treatment yet, since no idea if T1 or T2, although I assume they all start you off as a T2, and then take it from there? I've heard so many stories where they misdiagnose LADA as T2 to begin with because of the late onset. GP just told me...

    How to tolerate hunger

Hi, it's in the gene. My mom's endo ran some tests to finally determine what type she was, since she's been a diabetic for 40+ years after her second pregnancy when she was around 27 years old. I recalled that she had to go on insulin right away, no pills or diet or lifestyle changes...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Can someone explain to me why the ADA says beans (legumes) are fine for someone who is prediabetic, T1, T2, LADA...? They say that it's a "good" carb since it has fibre and won't spike your sugars. Hmmmm...I've looked at other sites as well where I google: are beans safe for diabetes...and the...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Hi Shelley, thank you for the edame bean suggestion. I do know that they are the lowest carb bean and although I love them, I have to watch it because of the hypothyroid. I have to watch my intake of soy which makes me so upset, because I love fermented soy in a tempeh and in miso soup. I just...

    How to tolerate hunger

Yes, but then it would not satisfy the whole eating process..but I get what you mean, take the pill with all the nutrients and don't have to bother with diet, carbs or no carbs, protein or too much of it, etc....just take a pill and be full after that!
