    Type 2 Slow release Metformin?

Yes they do. I had the same issue with the standard metformin and spoke to the pharmacist who arranged for a telephone consultation with my doctor to get the prescription changed. I have had no issues with the SR version. Good luck Regards Bluebell Sent from my SM-T810 using...

    5.1!!!!!

As I had been doing well with my weight loss and fasting BG numbers (see charts below), I asked for an HbA1c to confim that I was on track. I have just seen the doctor who told me that it was 5.1. She is now questioning the initial diagnosis. I have persuaded her to carry out an OGTT...

    Diabetic diet delivery

You would have to install the "Andy" Android emulator first. Google it and there are walk throughs available. I suspect however that there are native PC programmes available as well. Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk

    Diabetic diet delivery

Your diet is definately not low carb! Start off by eliminating sugar, wheat (especially bread and pasta), rice and root vegetables (especially potatoes). Use an app like MyFitnessPal to work out the carbs in the rest of your diet and get a meter (I use the SD Code Free as it has the cheapest...

    Daily Mail andLCHF

Interestingly he calls his way of eating low carb healthy fat which may be an easier sell than low carb high fat. Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk

How many grams of carbs tolerated?

I think the 130 grams of glucose per day for the brain to function is correct. However, if the glucose is not available then the body converts fat to ketones which the brain is perfectly happy to use for fuel. Sent from my SM-T810 using Diabetes.co.uk Forum mobile app

    BG meters and airport security

Mine went through LHR hand luggage security last year with no comment. SD Codefree in its case with spare lancets, pot of test strips and the battery fitted. Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk

    Low fat versus full fat

Agreed but remember that not all fats (same for calories) are equal. Avoid trans fats and high Omega 6 fats (most vegetable oils). Use olive or coconut oil for cooking and dressings. Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk

    Day 1 over

Try the MyFitnessPal app. It will calculate food macros and calories for you. The free version is good enough. Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk

** Possible Boots The Chemist Alert **

Similar problem here. My local Boots got me to sign up for their managed prescription service. What is supposed to happen is that every 4 weeks they get my repeat prescription from the surgery (500m away) fill it and text me to come and collect. In the past 18 months that has worked twice...

MY STRIPS REPEAT PRESCRIPTION HAS BEEN CANCELLED

Test strips (the expensive part!) are not universal - that is just business. You can use a lancet device from any manufacturer - you don't have to stay with the same manufacturer as your meter. A lot of the lancet devices use the same lancet (the cheap part!); for example the ones sold with...

    Calculating my Carbs

Yes, too many cups and not enough grams. However, if you often have the same meals, you can save your own recipes which makes life a bit easier. Part of the problem with Type 2 is that a lot of damage can be done before you start experiencing symptoms. I, like many on here, do not accept...

That looks like a lot of work. I use an app called fitness pal that calculates the macros for you. Saves me a lot if time.

Type 2 Help Needed to Understand BG Readings

I thought I had a handle on bg numbers but I am now very confused. I had been doing the 8 week diet and was happy with the way that my bg had responded. The end of the 8 weeks coincided with my 60th birthday so I fell off the wagon for a couple of days as can be seen by the chart below: Last...

Just diagnosed with Type 2 but doing OK

HbA1c is now 6.0 (down from 7.1). Higher than I was expecting but at least it is going in the right direction.

Just diagnosed with Type 2 but doing OK

That would probably be OK but at the moment, I want to lose a bit more weight so I don't need to up my calories by very much. I am also intermittent fasting (no breakfast) so I would rather have the extra calories as meat or wine with the 2 meals a day I am eating. It is however, an option...

Just diagnosed with Type 2 but doing OK

I agree to an extent. However, with no gall bladder there is no store of bile available to boost fat digestion; you have to rely on the constant low level dribble from your liver.
