Newly Diagnosed And Extremely Confused Type 2 Diabetic

I had a similar start to my diabetic life. Came back to the UK from holiday after 2 weeks of Sun, Sea, Sand and Sugary excess to be told that I have an Occupational Health medical. Nurse did a finger prick test and said that I was 105. 105 what ????? No one told me if that was good or bad...

Can They Stop Me Going On Holiday ?

Hi, I live and work in London 3 weeks at a time. For the fourth week I pop back home to Gods own Garden (Malta) and spend a week to 10 days depending on my shift pattern. My doctor is aware of this and has never expressed any serious concern about a three hour flight however he does always...

    Tee2 Test Strips

I also use the TEE2 and had that card from Spirit Health care to give to my doctor. Sadly that failed miserably as my doctor is of the opinion that type 2 diabetics shouldn't worry about home / self testing. There is a vast amount of discussion on these forum about that subject, but that's...

    Early Days But Progress!

17 hours between meals is probably a good way to start getting used to fasting. As long as you're happy and comfortable with it, keep it up. Good luck with it

    Early Days But Progress!

Yes very much so, I have a second meter and that read the same. NHS direct said the same as you about a rouge reading ect, but had something sweet, stayed awake for another 2 hours and my BG reading was back at a very respectable 7 something. Spoke to my doctor about it and he couldn't give an...

    Early Days But Progress!

My BG readings are on a downward trend. My doctor doesn't seem to believe in type 2 diabetics doing home / self testing, he says it is unnecessary as he will send me for blood tests every 6 months etc.....Yawn! Just by reading the posts on here it is painfully obvious that anyone with our...

    Bg Monitors

Have to admit that is a quite a saving, and with diabetics finding themselves to be blessed with self funding this sort of stuff (aren't we lucky) every little helps. I currently use the TEE2 meter which says that "no coding is required" but even if I have to buy the code free meter, at just...

    Early Days But Progress!

Well done Barbara Dieting and exercise are the way forward. My weight at diagnosis (January 2108) was 128KG. My super skinny (probably Anorexic) doctor looked at me and tutted saying, "You could do with loosing a few pounds/kilos/tons" As much as I hate to admit it he was right. My wife...

    Bg Monitors

Highly, highly, highly recommend the TEE2 system from Spirit Healthcare.Their delivery is superfast and most of their stuff is free to Diabetics. I ordered a BG meter, Lancet pen, the sugar test solution, the computer software and the USB cable. All of which was totally FREE! (so was the...

Type 2 Itv Programme Last Night Reversing Diabetes

The program was called "Diabetes fast fix club" or something like that. It was reported on in the Sun newspaper. Here's a link https://www.thesun.co.uk/fabulous/6524301/liquid-diet-to-reverse-type-2-diabetes/ The guinea pigs were all people at risk of or actually were in early stages of type...

BG Spikes following exercise (Type 2)

As I understand it your body fat releases stored sugar to provide energy for the work (exercise) your body us doing. When you stop exercising and then immediately test your blood sugar you will get an artificially high trading because of this. I would suggest wsiting an hour or two before...

3 DIFFERENT READINGS 3 DIFFERENT METERS 1 BLOOD SAMPLE

I use a Tee2 meter to "MONITOR" my blood sugar readings,. The key word here is "monitor". Irrespective of whether the readings I get are high, low or indifferent to the real value, the Tee2 still shows a trend so I know if I am generally on a downward trend or going upwards. My doctor will no...

    Blood glucose meters.

I use the Tee2 system from http://spirit-healthcare.co.uk a good basic meter that lets you keep track of your blood sugar readings. Test strips are very reasonable at £7:50 for 50. The actual meter complete with Lancet pen, 10 lancets and 10 test strips is free to diabetics
