Not just my GP who tells new T2s don't bother testing!

My DN just asked me to write about 3 test results in the book. Suggested that 1 was a first thing in the morning test and the rest at random times in the day. Not bother doing more and not to worry about them or testing. If that is normal then of course people aren't going to display a...

Type 2 Stomach issues when taking metaformin.

Because I suffered from IBS for decades my DN wasn't going to put me on metformin but I can't for the life of me remember what she was going to prescribe. So there is an alternative. Edited to say that being on a LCHF diet seems to have sorted out the IBS problem.

What is the story with Diabetes UK?

Thanks for asking this. I did (not so well as you've phrased it) and then decided to delete it.

    Reversed or Cured?

Can you have an OGTT (Glucose Tolerance Test) done by your doctor?

    hbA1c and Freestyle Libre

I understand now, the lowest my readings have gone is 2.6 so I would not have had a red flat line.

    Reversed or Cured?

Speaking for myself. I'd love to no longer be diabetic because then I would be free to eat whatever I wanted to, in how much quantity and to eat it as often as I want to. i.e. I'd be free. In reality of course I'd be back eating as I used to. i.e. not eating, feeling faint so grabbing...

    hbA1c and Freestyle Libre

Having flat red lines is't a sign of a failed sensor or if it was then the past 5 sensors I've used are all failed. It's normal for me. Red for me is 3.8 btw.

I finally have a set of tests I can compare against...

You should be well chuffed. Well done.

    hbA1c and Freestyle Libre

Sorry I forgot to say well done on reducing the numbers. Personally I'd carry on using the Libre for monitoring the effects of what food you are eating. Well that's what I'm going to do. After my a1c test in 2 weeks I'm going to start experimenting with adding in some carbs. i.e. the odd...

    hbA1c and Freestyle Libre

Maybe there is something wrong with our arms? I get readings a bit like this but not quite so different. Oh dear that's as clear as mud. BUT when I read others comments about out by .5 or 1 I do wonder if there is something wrong with my arms. I've got my A1c coming up in a couple of weeks...

    Libre differences in readings

Mine is always out by 1-2 when compared to a finger prick (agamatrix jazz). I've tested at 5 - 30 mins and it's NEVER been anything other 1-2 lower than the finger prick. Basically the time lag makes no difference for me. I've read on here that the meter that I use for finger pricking tends...

Type 2 Are you ashamed to have Type 2 Diabetes?

When I was diagnosed and blaming myself the one person who didn't also think that it was my fault was my T1 friend. She didn't blame me and she supported me.

    Flu Shot

Having mine on Saturday at the gp's. Never had one before. Didn't realise that it takes 6 weeks for the body to manufacture the antibodies. Nothing like dogs then. They only take a week.

    NHS which strips?

I was surprised that I was given a meter and told to test about times 3 but not to worry about testing. (not surprised about the last bit). On my 2nd visit to the DN (3 weeks later) I told her about my Libre and said that I was chuffed at having the Jazz as I could check using it if I got low...
