Refused blood sticks by GP (Type 1)

Not sure, don't really know about practice managers or what they do...They didn't sound as convicted when I reminded them about letter just sent to them RE my testing a lot from hospital but I still had to book the overuse appointment. Ahhh

Refused blood sticks by GP (Type 1)

Thanks so much, I will do and I will feel much better going in there with this. I'm going to print out copy for pharmacist too.

Refused blood sticks by GP (Type 1)

I bet it costs money for a referral! I've got less than 100 a month- was last prescribed 100 a month a go and that's overuse :( Weirdly, I think GPs get/got a bonus of some sort if your HbA1c was good - even if all your care is at hospital.

Refused blood sticks by GP (Type 1)

Went to collect my test strips today without success and was told by pharmacist (who had been told by GP/receptionist) that I'm 'over using' blood sticks and that's why my prescription was declined. Apparently I must book an appointment to discuss my 'overuse' (but they can't fit me in until...

    Induction Date Given

I argued my entire pregnancy (hundreds of appointments) to not go on a sliding scale- simply because I love my pump and was convinced that my basal rates etc were far superior to a different insulin plan calculated on general population and not me. By end of first pregnancy, obstetrician and...

CGM - anyone got one on NHS?

No luck here despite trying very hard with consultant's support. Even tried direct to PCT who categorically said no. I was only asking for funding during pregnancy (prior to conception) and hoped that given the improved control didn't only benefit my health but that of a baby for 9 months. I...

Disagreements with diabetic nurse – second opinion needed

Agree with all that Tiger said (and also had bad hypos requiring repeated ambulances with first pregnancy) I know it's complicated to switch during pregnancy but have you considered moving hospitals? Where about are you in the country? I think advice given to you is unrealistic and...

    What breakfast cereal spikes sugars

Toast - only 15 /30 carbs for one/two pieces. Real butter and peanut butter slows the spike. Whereas cereal, a decent size bowl (not what is listed on side of packet) is 50 + ish Type 1 since I was 9, now 36 and figured out last few years not to listen to diet advice- base what is best for your...
