    Back to basics

I did actually say that Statins would push my numbers up but his reply was "Who told you that" "I'd like to see the medical dictionary that's stated in". This was the Doctor rather than the nurse i saw on Wednesday. So new practice same routine. Working on principle that healthy eating...

    Back to basics

Had a phone call from surgery. My H1 static at 52 but cholesterol at 5.7 from 5 4 and recommended statins. I refused. Basically told him i d been pretty lax this last 3 or 4 month re diet and excersise and confident i can improve them. It was 5.7 last April when all this started but was 5.4 upon...

    Back to basics

Just an aside. I had fasted all day and did a test at home and was 7.0 at 1400 before appointment. Was expecting that to be much lower tbh. Got home after work and ate spaghetti bolognese (home made and lots of meat and veg and small amount of spaghetti. 2 coffees and an apple) tested 2 hour...

    Back to basics

Had my appointment with new practice Diabetic Nurse. Felt it was fairly positive and she took bloods so will wait to see if ive got down into the 40ish range as my readings suggest? Blood pressure was high and that has never been an issue before but possible long hours and few issues recently as...

Yes. I do seem to have had that moment something clicked and am back on track. Thankfully i dont seem to have done much damage but will know more upon next blood results.

Thanks. Think the battle now is mindset. I read the newly diagnosed threads and remember how scared I was last April. Not been a year yet but like i said i now just carry on as T2 is the new normal. Chuck in Covid and it's been a strange year. Always struggled with weight and lost large chunks...

    Back to basics

Hy everyone. I've not posted or read on here for awhile but just felt the urge to write down recent events and feelings. Was diagnosed April2020 T2. Got great help from here and really threw myself into low carb and getting my H1AC1 down from 121. Had really poor help from surgery and different...

    Feeling awful

I couldn't take the normal Met due to similar problems. The slow release version was better but still i would have problems especially as built the dose up.This has eased but dont be afraid to drop from 4 to 3 or 3 to 2 for awhile if the problems occur.Build up again slowly. It seems many dont...

    Type 2 diabetic (kind of)

As Brunneria says it's just a natural thing and even though i am now in 5s and 6s during the day and even after meals i still read 7s and 8s first thing in morning which keeps your 3 month average higher than expected. I read that this takes a fair while to calm down as you get your numbers...

    Type 2 diabetic (kind of)

It does feel like pinning down a doctor and getting an appointment is harder than ever and Covid has given them more excuse to palm off with phone consultation and that's after a half hour wait to get through and book one for a week later. Trying to steer you to online form then again a phone...

    Type 2 diabetic (kind of)

Just reread your thread and it does sound like your care team leaves alot to be desired. Did you get your H1 result ever? The numbers you have achieved without any medication show how it can be done. Splenda I switched to and found it didn't affect my BG but I read different sweeteners can...

Best way to take Sukkarto SR

Been taking it about 6 month and still occasionally have a reaction if take 2 at a time during the day so i found one at breakfast and one at lunch followed by the 2 at teatime or later works for me although still out of the blue get the Yellow Screamers for no obvious reason which is far from...

    Flu vaccination

Ah. The Nurse never knew that as she said only one needed. In the 6 months I've been diagnosed Diabetic its surprising how Nurses even in the same practice give advice etc often contradictory to each other?

    Flu vaccination

Had my first ever flu jab last week. Thankfully no side effects or pain. Also given a one off Pneumonia jab in other arm. Again no problems since. Been offered it before for BMI reasons but never until T2 diagnosis this April have i felt the need for it.The wife also had hers as in same...

    Type2 confirmed yesterday

Latest result is 53. Still getting the higher readings first thing in mornings so that has kept it higher than i hoped. Fairly confident low 40s next 3 month test.Fingers crossed

    6 month into T2

Cheers. Yes i was only expecting one.Had heard all the stories of adverse reactions and with it being first time was little nervous. Probably good i didn't have time to worry about the 2nd jab?

    Finding love

My first instinct on this is tell any prospective partner as early as possible. There are a lot of preconceptions and you hear lots of cheap half truths from people who have little or no understanding of Diabetes. Ideally the new guy would research a little and maybe adapt his choices to suit...

    6 month into T2

Had my 1st flu jab 1830 tonight. They also gave me a one off Pneumonia jab? Touchwood no issues so far. Was a little apprehensive but with things as they are and in a high risk job it seemed sensible to take them.

    6 month into T2

My meter readings suggested i would have been less but still getting bigger numbers first thing in mornings so the average will still be skewed by that i think?

    6 month into T2

Just received the HbA1c. It is 53. So gone from 121 to 53 in 6 month. I'm pretty pleased with that after the 75 at 3 month reading. Was really aiming to dip under 50 but all considered it's good news..
