    Type2 confirmed yesterday

Aye, it's a mixture of determination self pity and everything between. Swinging quickly to and fro.Gone back to 4 tablets as of today so just hoping no trots again and would like to see meter readings drop after a plateau.

    Type2 confirmed yesterday

Yes of course that makes sense and i found this forum pretty much within an hour of getting home after diagnosed and learnt more suitable advice than the pamphlet I was sent away with. I see a steady stream of posters exactly where I was 6 week ago and feel so much better than i did then but...

    Type2 confirmed yesterday

Yes the 7 to 10 seemed to be American info? Another thing, I'm feeling bit aggrieved with my GP as when i was in surgery the diabetic nurse left me alone to talk with doctor I noticed my info on screen. In 2015 my level was 43? Was never given any mention let alone warning? I'm thinking if told...

    Type2 confirmed yesterday

Getting a bit obsessed with the meter readings and wanting immediate results which I know is stupid. Posted by mistake elsewhere but now at 9.9 average meter reading and after 6 week of downward curve it's now creeping up. Says on many sites between 7 and 10 is normal for diabetic2s so from 121...

    Conflicting advice

Getting to grips with my meter and now averaging 9.9. Was lower but last few days readings bit higher but been having toilet issues off the Met again.I wondered if that could effect readings? Come from H1 reading 121 6week ago then 16.2 glucose 5week ago so i can see progress. Still staying...

    Type2 confirmed yesterday

The Wednesday update 30 days after diagnosis. Was 16.2 then on May1st 12.8. Today 8.5. Done by staying under 50g Carb a day. I got changed to Sukkarto and had worked up to full dose but started getting stomach pain and trots again so rang surgery and told to stick to 3 tablets rather than 4. Im...

    Metformin side effects

I had serious problems with metformin on first taking them last month. They changed me onto Sukkarto which I think is the slow release form? I seem to be a bit better on these but generally feel unsettled and like I'm going to have diahorrea but only had one bout on these tablets.Last few day...

    Type2 confirmed yesterday

3 week update from diagnosed. Still sticking to under 50g carb a day but not seeing much movement on scales? Feel better in myself and no sugar highs or lows.As of today it's 2 tablets (slow release met) breakfast one with evening meal but did have a bit of upset tum/runs this afternoon.Nothing...

    Conflicting advice

This is a huge part of the conflicting advice received especially initially. The fact the 2 diabetic nurses within same practice give different guidance shows the problem.

    Conflicting advice

Mentioned elsewhere that the appointment when they told me I was type2 the diabetic nurse whilst prescribing Metformin was very keen on weight loss alongside whilst week later the other diabetic nurse totally shot down not just low carb but any real benefit of weight loss and was insistent the...

    Scared

Exactly 2 week ago I was in exact same situation. It's a shock and you go through every emotion. Not helped by Lockdown and so much contradictory advice. The low carb way of eating seemed a little unrealistic at first but I've gone under 50g carb everyday since without any real bother. Feel...

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

Breakfast bacon and scrambled egg. Lunch oxtail soup and nice wedge of cheddar. Tea. Chicken skewers with peppers. Plenty of water and Green Mint Tea. 2 bottles Michelob ultra just now as a treat. The beer is only 2g carb a bottle. Had physio for my back and feel a new man..

Low carb Sausage rolls would really be a treat. Almond flour may be hard to source at moment but will certainly try.

Thanks for reply. Quite a difference between the 2 nurse iv seen. 1st one was very keen to stress weight loss would help.Today's was dismissive. I think this is part of the problem in that there is so much contradictory advice upon diagnosis and iif i'd not found here I'd still be on...

    Type2 confirmed yesterday

Ok it was the follow up appointment this morning after last week's diagnosis. Different diabetic nurse but nice enough. Been prescribed the slow release tablets due to the diahorrea. My readings 16.2 and 0.7 ketone initially. Today 12.8 and 0.4. She seemed happy with this. She was dismissive of...
