    Another slightly freaked out newbie

Sometimes I just don't get it - 3.4 yesterday evening before eating, lowest I have seen and allegedly impossible when not on meds of any kind. 9 after with no carbs other than a small pitta bread! This condition continues to confound and freak us out.

I do get the odd reading 10 or 11 if I have been naughty, but it passes in an hour or two - generally I'm 6 or so after eating. I haven't read Fung, maybe I should. Ahhh, had some wholemeal spaghetti tonight, 8.8. No more of that then!

No matter what I eat (or don't...) my waking BG is generally between 6 and 7, or a bit more. Dawn effect, I don't know, but there it is, every day. Later it can be much lower even after eating breakfast, but early mornings are an issue for some reason. So I accept it as it is, my last A1c was...

Ah, my weekly and monthly average is 6.4, the 5.4 refers to my '2 hours after' figure. I now only do 1 or 2 tests day as I can control what I eat and what results it causes. My last A1c was 5.9%/41.

Burgen Bread Query - Newbie Question

I mostly use wholegrain wraps for lunch but occasionally use the Burgen. The Burgen causes a higher, er, high. Not the illegal sort of high!

I could eat half a loaf! I LOVE bread. Unfortunately......

    Another slightly freaked out newbie

I have found that as time goes on (3 months) on a low carb (but not no car) diet that the occasional naughty SMALL (very!) fish and chips does not now case too high a spike. It did take me to 10-11 but now maybe 8-9 level with a return to 'my normal' 5.4 ish in another hour. It doesn't cause...

Type 2 Getting used to lower numbers

I don't know but I feel the same. I am going to be tested for iron and B12 deficiency at my next A1c, and a PSA test - not sure of your gender! Edit - sorry I see you're female! Forgot how to look to your profile!

Hi Debs. I haven't used any fancy recipes, just eating meat and salads basically. Living in a relatively small island community we don't have access to a lot of the fancier things we read about on here. 10kg though - wow! Well done! I don't have an of your other issues you are facing, best...

Hi Mal, thank you. No medication, just diet and a modest increase in exercise. Low ish carb and not too high fat! I still need to lose weight (was 14st 4lb, now 12st 13lb) so I'm not much help, sorry! Potatoes and pasta are the culprits for me having high BG, as well as breads. Eating no...

5.4 before eating yesterday evening, 13.1 afterwards.....eek....two tortillas with a healthy chilli. First time I had tried them since diagnosis. Last time I try them since…..ahem. 13.1 is the highest I have seen. I tried them as an experiment to see if they 'filled me up' without spiking...

Burgen Bread Query - Newbie Question

Success! Finally, I managed to get three loaves this evening, and as someone said above, it is indeed a very tasty bread. It was even tastier when you haven't had as much as a crumb of bread for two months! Thanks all for guidance and comments.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

6.1 OK after a Thai curry and a beer (one!) last night.

What was your bg reading last night and this morning?

8.1/6.1 Had a Thai curry and a beer, so not too bad.

    Your primary care team T2D

Funnily enough there is currently a programme on C4 about our prison, 'the Best Little Prison in Britain'. Weds 8pm. It gets a lot of stick in social meeja here for being too lax and a 'holiday camp'. It also has the lowest re-offending rate of any prison in the British Isles, so it works...
