    Friends/Advice T1 - Age: 18-21

Hey @Mikeylulz and everyone else. I'm 24 and diagnosed about 8/9 weeks ago. You are right @becky.ford93, sometimes we feel like we are the only person who has to deal with this on a daily basis yet all of us manage it every single day. We might not know everything but we sure give it our best...

    Readings at diagnosis

I started noticing increased thirst and once I started having to visit the toilet during the night I knew I was diabetic because I've never had to do that in my life before. Had to insist on getting urine and blood tests as soon as possible because was feeling worse each day. Still was forcing...

    Hi All

I agree with @mammamia2006 that is on the low side because not much margin for error if you drop in the night. I'd be aiming for 5.5 and above really.

Recently diagnosed Type 1 from Trinidad and Tobago.

Welcome @GoRachel1989 you have definitely come to the right place for learning and advice from people on this forum. It is all very overwhelming at the start and so much to learn but soon you will have the BG levels under better control and feeling much more confident about yourself. Keep going :)

Cycling competitively but can't stop hypos

Hey buddy - I can't advise but interested to find out more about your routines for cycling/general exercise as I'm a keen runner and cyclist. I know everyone is different but interesting to see how you deal with diabetes and exercise. Andy

First run since diagnosis of type 1

Hey guys - ventured out on my first run since I was diagnosed as type 1 now that my BG levels are consistently in the 4-8 range, bar a few hypos here and there. Here is my readings from the run... I had waited three and half hours after breakfast so that the 4 units of novorapid had been used...

    This might be difficult!

It's certainly the maternal instinct of mothers isn't it? They don't like seeing their children ill in any form so will worry more than they really should and asking lots of questions. This can wear you down and sometimes having NO diabetic chat is needed as @Brownie1993 mentioned.

Need friends who can understand! Type 1.

Hey buddy - I was diagnosed 8 weeks ago and it's overwhelming the amount of things to understand but most importantly get the glucose levels into reasonable levels consistently and then start building up a greater understanding. You don't want to overload too early! So much to learn for us all...

    Morning Walks

Hey man - Thanks. Yeah, one morning I took my novorapid and had breakfast but then waited a while before starting to walk. Obviously I was walking when insulin was starting to really peak so I just hypo'd haha. Next day, I sorted everything out first that needed done, had my novorapid, breakfast...

    Letter for airport security

Thanks @Waspy I just looked up flybe as an example and they say: "Epi-pens may be carried and utilised on Flybe services and the user is not required to provide any medical certification for this. You can carry this with you in your cabin bag or within the hold of the aircraft. If you require...

    Letter for airport security

I asked my GP yesterday if I needed a letter for airport security...he was adamant I didn't need one. Maybe depends on the airline? Still don't fancy chancing it haha :nailbiting:
