    Cholesterol help!

I have reluctantly agreed to take statins following background retinopathy being found. My doctor is very supportive of me. I am giving them a go for a while and if there are no side effects I will review the situation with her. One statement she made was...your BP and BG are perfect, why not...

Can you help with a discrepancy

Thanks for all the comments on this thread. My Hba1c came out at 36 ( which approximates to average bs of 6). In the last six months I have only been in the sixes twice ,according to my records, and my average bs is about 5. I have started additional testing at random times to see if I can catch...

    Data Nerdery and recording

MySugr, Fat Secret and My M Health. I do need to explore MySUgr and learn to put in food, exercise and weight data and then maybe I can ditch Fat Secret.

Hba1c, maintaining weight and keeping the balance

My last Hba1c was up from 33 to 36 so I really understand your disappointment. Following advice from other members of the forum, I started using MySugr which gives me an estimated figure of 4.8% (is 29) which is considerably lower than the lab result. This has made me feel a bit more positive...

    Hba1c up

I have begun using mySugr as you suggested and my estimated Hba1c comes up as 27.9.... Significantly lower than my actual lab test result. I am going to up my finger pricks to see if I am peaking at one hour post prandial to see if that explains it.

    Hba1c up

I cannot help being disappointed with my latest results. I know they are still very good but I have gone up from 33mmol to 36mmol. As far as I can tell I have not increased my carb intake. I wonder if this rise should be considered significant or if it is within the expected margin of error.

    Livlife bread

Waitrose are going to discontinue stocking Livlife bread! This is terrible news for me as it is an absolute staple of my diet and helps keep me on track.

Gradually introducing a few more carbs

Nearly two years T2 now. Diet, exercise and willpower were the answer for me. I am still very strict with myself and weigh and record everything that passes my lips....a pain but worth it. I think stopping smoking has helped too.

I'm not going to go carb mad...it is such a slippery slope

Gradually introducing a few more carbs

Well, the Hba1c is down to 33 and I hardly ever go above 6mmol post prandial so I have stared to eat a few more carbs. Yesterday I had a longed for cheese and bacon puff from the bakery for lunch...pre 4.6 two hrs later 5.3. Today I ate 135g new potatoes (previous meals 100g) with salad, salmon...

Type 2 Results back, all good except HDL too high

I just had my test results and all were fine but my HDL had gone up to 2.01 mol - (LDL 3.3, trigs 0.7) giving me an HDL/LDL ratio of 0.615. Is 2.01 disastrously high? I won't be seeing the DN for a couple of weeks so would appreciate your thoughts/experience. My Hba1c was 33.

I got my levels down with LCHF but am to worried about getting on a "slippery slope" if I start eating normally again, even occasionally.

I find I can manage 100g of new potatoes...especially if reheated. I have them with butter.
