    Vinegar.

Since reading your post I have come across 2 vinegar books in our bookcase. One recommends cider vinegar use regularly if you have betes, the other just recommends everyone drinks a teaspoonful or two in a glass of water daily as it's good for your system.

    Questins, questions, questions

Hi Jane, Why not get yourself a small dog? We have a shitzu and I walk him 3 or 4 times a day, just "around the block" which is enough exercise for his little legs. :D

I know the instructions say use once only, but, has anyone tried re using them and if so are they still accurate?

    Narky?

Hi Dermot, I snapped at my poor wife earlier this evening over something VERY trivial. I tried to "kiss and make up" shortly afterwards and explained it was due to my betes...........but she was having none of it. Spare room for me again tonight methinks. :(

Porridge - which is best for you?

I'm currently having Scott's porridge oats with skimmed milk only. I used to add a spoonful of honey to sweeten it, before my betes diagnosis. It's probably a dumb question, but, does the odd spoonful of honey, in for example porridge do us any harm, or will it send my BG to crazy levels? I...

    Can someone help me?

Hi Candi. I've recently been diagnosed as T2 as well. On my first trip to the nurse she gave me a meter for free (she said the medical reps always leave her on or two free samples to give to patients). She also wrote me out prescriptions for testing strips, lancets and a bucket to put used...

    DUK T2 Testing Survey

Just done it Steve. I notice you have been taken off medication. I'm diet only for now and scared to start taking tablets as my perception is once started you have to take them for life. Relieved to see that ISN't the case............or are you an exception to the rule?

New Diagnosed but have Liver problems

Hi Pammie, Yes, when I visited the diabetes nurse recently for the first time she discussed the results of my fasting blood tests. She mentioned I had some liver damage too, but didn't seem too concerned about it, particularly when I told her I've stopped drinking alcohol for the forseeable...

    Hello Everyone - (Another Newbee)

Hi Angel56, I would have thought that the best person to ask about local support groups would be your diabetic nurse. When I visited mine for the first time recently she mentioned a local support group to me almost straight away. I declined; I'd much rather do this on my own, but with help...

    Narky?

Elaine, I think everyone is too frightened to answer you in case you shout at them. 8) Seriously though, yes my wife and son both commented to me that my fuse was "shorter than normal" in the weeks and months leading up to my diagnosis at the beginning of this year.

    Hello & Happy New Year

Cheers Ken. My biggest challenge comes next week when I am down in Weston super mare on a 3 day training course. 8 of us are all staying in the same hotel. Watching my food intake will be hard enough but sitting at the bar all night with the others and not boozing will be a real test.

Dr Hilary Jones on ketogenic diets

Oh no. I'm just getting my head around taking regular meter readings.........................I don't even want to think about prodding around with my poo.   GMTV is just one big advertising plug. I've lost count of the number of "celebrities" who have advertised their...

    Hello & Happy New Year

Just taken another reading, 2 hours after my evening meal. 6.1 :D I'm amazed just how quickly my BG appears to be coming down in such a short space of time (meter reading was 16 on new years day). I'm not on a diet as such, just avoiding the usual sugary snacks and trying to eat 3 meals a...

    sex and hypos

So, let me get this straight. Now I have betes, for "safe sex" I now need to have in or around the bedroom: Chocolate sauce Biscuits Lucosade Glucose tablets And my meter to measure "before and after" BG levels  Talk about passion killers.............not 9 and 1/2 weeks, more like 9...

Another article on the importance of leptin for diabetics on this very website: http://www.diabetes.co.uk/news/2010/Jan ... 82868.html I find it strange that leptin is still relatively unknown. :?
