Long time Type 2, new to forum

Hi Beadie Jay, I wish you a good progress in treating your diabetes. I think you are taking care of it. As for depression and anxiety, I have read in my diabetes books, that there is a strong connection. In my case, they preceded diabetes. But you are right about exercise, as it does help...

    Hypo unaware

Dear Ellies, hypos are very dangerous. When first dx'd my medical team switched from one type of diabetic drug to another because I had frequent hypos, but not with serious symptoms as I did as the years went by. So, if your daughter's doctor choosed the lower hypo or slower, and she eats an...

    Hi, new to forum!

Hi BrittJo, Though my first diabetes symptoms were not quite the same as yours, it does sound that since you were diagnosed pre-diabetic, and you are not getting better, it might be a good idea to consult a doctor and get a blood check.

    8 years diabetic 2

Hi folks; looking forward to reading your posts. I am taking metformin, gluclyzide, and many other non-diabetic medications. I notice that as the years go by I am much more aware of the diabetic disease. You may have read my other posts. Cheers!

    Please explain your fatigue.

Fatigue seems to affect all my cells in my body, including the brain. I don't think the blood glucose is as significant as diabetes itself, though a high does make you sleepy. Recently I have noticed that not being as aware of hypos as I was in the first year, that too can make you sleepy...

Your husband should be ashamed of himself. Hope he doesn't get embarrassed when he has a heart attack.

    Request for gliclazide dose increase

From 80mg to an addition of 40mg glyclazide, after 8 years of diabetes2, I feel so much better, less fatigued and less likely to sleep after eating. Here is the paradox: the 2 40mg chunks in the first part of the day, and especially in the morning, the blood sugar numbers tend to be higher...

    SD Codefree giving high readings?

I hope you find the new meter to your benefit. I asked Google Medical Research if they could manufacture a watch attached to the skin and giving a frequent blood sugar dial. Wouldn't that be great? I suppose infection may be a risk. I don't know how a blood sugar measurement could be made...

    Gliclazide dose too high?

Hi kjc2011, I think the dose is high, but I don't know why your dr. doubled 80mg. Perhaps you have been on the initial 80mg or even 40mg (esp. if metformin is added) for a long time, and is now past and you have reached 10 or 15 years on the first dose. Otherwise I would be cautious about...

    Request for gliclazide dose increase

Dear magsless, Yes indeed the sulfonylureas increase the possiblity of hypos, which are worse than hypers. But the dose (which in your case is higher than mine) and the time taken many actually deter the pancreatic ability to have more insulin. I had hypos in the first years much more than as...
