How much insulin do you take?

Thanks for your reply Andrea. I am not getting such tests. This stuff is too deep for me. Where can I get these gizmos, i.e.CGM sensor - that would help.

    Thyroid issues.

Yes, I think so. I am on 0.112 Synthroid but since medication switches, the balance may be off. I feel as if I have hyperthyroidism, though both hypo and hyper can share the same symptoms and there is a variability of overactiveness during the day, but sleeping OK now. I would like to know...

    LOCKING LEGS

I don't have locking, but I do wake up with a painful upper thigh muscle cramp every morning (fall and diabetes may have been the culprits). I notice that sugar makes it worse. I follow exercises and walk first thing in the morning; list leg over other leg, step leg up and down, stretch body...

    Thyroxine supplementation and insulin

Does thyroxine inrease or decrease insulin levels? I think I am hyperthyroidic, for med reasons, but the insulin dose may play a role too. Thank you for any info. My search resulted in uber-medical language.

    Metformin and Vitamin B12

Help for t1 kids in Ukraine

Thank you; they are about 1 year old, but well sealed. I am sure that organizations like Red Cross, and MSF are doing more than individuals, but it makes me feel good to help; actually, I feel sorry for the Russians too.. except for the Megalomaniac of course.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

    6.1, *even* with a reduction in insulin; may have been having reactive hypoglycemia before on higher insulin; now checking for hypos with alarm clock middle of the night;

    Insulin shortage

News report: shortage of insulin in Ukraine-related war: I have saved numerous "left over short dose" vials of Humulin N. (ironically, "in case of the Apocalypse") . Is it a good idea to collect them and send them to Poland, e.g.? Would they go through customs?

    Metformin and Vitamin B12

I take 500 metformin now, and I have been prescribed B12 (I think for my nerves). Whether metformin and B12 are really related I have my doubts. I do know that Vitamin B12 makes me ill all day, so I take the lower OTC One-a-day vitamins.

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

But do they give a reason? And why not for insulin takers; I do wish medical professionals had the time to be more specific.

    What am I doing here!

Your lithium range is therapeutic, but if you take the ohter meds, they may have an interaction. I was on 900mg; could have done on lower imo, to spare the kidney damage over the years. Your other meds may interact; wonder why you are not on monotherapy. Sorry you have been ill. I really...

    What am I doing here!

I should clarify that I am Type 2 diabetic. I would be interested to know your lithium dose as both time taken, and dose can lead to toxicity. That you are taking other bipolar meds, may have guided your dr. to give reduced maintenance doses. I was diagnosed with diabetes about 12 yrs. ago; it...

    What am I doing here!

Hi HighJinx22! Regarding your question about bipolar meds; I have been on lithium for 41+ yrs, which served me well, until it became toxic. It did increase weight, which may have contributed to diabetes 2 eventually. It is not as bad as divalproex or Latuda (recent switch) both surge blood...
