    Type 1: What's the after-effects of a hypo?

I have been diabetic 2 for close to 9 years now. As the years go by, I notice that even at 4.9 mg I feel chest pains; though I am not sure if it is a gastro pain or a heart pain. And so, I would rather be a bit high bg as the only side effect is sleepiness and fatigue. One of my...

    Monitoring Diabetes on 2017

Thank you ickihun. At least each year doctors progress in diabetes treatment. You might take a look at WHO as the global needs.

    Monitoring Diabetes on 2017

Hi HohnJoe13, it is very helpful to get information here. I just wonder whether the diabetic "epidemic" which has never been so widespread on the globe is well treated.. And though some countries have the resources to help people, others do not. I just thought that governments could open up...

    Monitoring Diabetes on 2017

As diabetes is an "epidemic" in the past few years, and there are so many aspects needed to control it, I sometimes wonder why we don't have diabetes clinics where patients can visit more frequently and diabetes specialists can monitor the right treatment and prevent complications.

What research do you want done?

I was rather surprised that starvation was used before Banting and Best for bg control. It certainly seemed risky: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3062586/

My dog has been diagnosed with diabetes today

Wishing you the best of care you get for Issabella. It's so sad when animals get serious illnesses. The insulin treatment must require delicate work. As for the money, is it possible to compare Vet clinics? When our cats had to be treated our neighbour suggested to go to the Vet hospital...

    Hello from Canada

Greetings from the Great White North. When I was a hippie at college I used marijuana with my friends, and I also felt hungry, friendly (LOL), and sleepy. Eventually i dropped it because there was a rancid smell to it. At the present years now, I really wish morphine became legally OTC. Enjoy.

Hi - an endo interested in education checking in

Hi Daisy1, Yes I have read many clinical trial journals on this topic. I can't remember how high is too high, and I have read journals which say for seniors it is more important to have high bg's than low, especially as seniors may be unaware of hypos. My numbers are increasing after 8 yrs...

Type 2 diabetes and sprained ankle

Hi Janny, I had the same problem some months ago, and I thought it was due to diabetes edema. It was actually due to a tight fitting shoe. Because I resist going to my doctor unless it is very serious,, I used a tight elastic and tried not to walk on it. In about 2 weeks I recovered...

    Diabetes, despair and depression

Hi. I was diagnosed as bipolar about 30 years ago. At t;hat time my meds were preceded by benzos, and then I was put on the miracle drug lithium. Nevertheless I am sceptical about the possibility of benzo withdrawal simulating bipolar. I have read a lot of medical books on lithium, and it...

    Gliclazide dose paradox

Hi folks, For you who have increased gliclazide from 80 to 120mg on account of symptoms of hyperglycemia and fatigue, with increased bg numbers, something strange has happened to me. Something so strange that I think only a pharamacologist would understand: I cut my gliclazide dose by 40mg in...

    High blood sugar readings

I suspected that Leslie. Eating too much before going to bed may increase the blood sugar in the morning. However, eating a little is risky: it may be better to have hyperglycemia than "dead in bed" at night if you have a hypo but unaware of it. I do wish Google Med. would invent a diabetes...

    Diabetes, despair and depression

Hi LingLoud, I wish you luck with the author doctor. Frankly, I don't know the cause of depression in diabetes-- whether it is bilological or just the daily vigilance and side effects. It does not help that I have had depression for most of my life either, but at least my drugs have helped...
