    Poor Blood test results

Is it possible for you to get your vitamins needed by injection or infusion? It might be worth asking.

    Diagnosed today 12th Dec 2016

That is a most excellent video, thank you for posting it. I am surprised he has not been sued for flat out stating that the American diabetes society is causing diabetes although it is certainly true.

Is metformin good for your brain?

If you are not hypoglycemic there is enough glucose for your brain. Anything is possible and no doctor is going to give absolutes to a total stranger via e-mail. They could lose their license.

    Christmas treats!!!!

I guess it depends on which ones you make and there are thousands of recipes out there. The ones I sometimes make do not do that they just melt in your mouth like any good high quality chocolate will.

    Christmas treats!!!!

If you make fat bombs you will probably find that you can't gorge on them as they are RICH beyond belief. They are also very very yummy and very very low carb.

Low Carbs versus NHS recommended diet.

I have to stay around 20 grams carb per day to keep my blood sugar under control and often eat even less than that in a day. My A1c has come down from 10.4 to 5.8 in 6 months.

    Skeletal Muscle Loss with T2?

I would not be too quick to blame it on diabetes. A different doctor may be in order but whatever you do it needs proper investigation.

    Diet pepsi

Yes that is a possibility, I have had this happen.

excellent low carb diet explanation in plain english

This is all excellent information @PekkaJ but it is exactly the kind of response that someone who is in shock from diagnosis can't really assimilate. A lot of people only have a hazy idea of what a carb is and just want to be told what to eat. Telling them about protein ratios and ketosis just...

Depressed, bedridden and totally fed up

It may be helpful to get your mom on this forum. If she is the one preparing meals for you more knowledge and support for her as well can only be good for you both. Best you work on this as a team. Hope you are feeling better and back out hiking soon.

    Diet pepsi

I am not sure which sweetener is in diet pepsi but suspect aspartame. I drink diet coke and aspartame does not affect me personally but we are all different. You might want to try a diet drink that is sweetened with stevia or splenda. One or the other might be fine for you. The only way to know...

    how important this is

I think you are right to be skeptical. There is long term risk of malnutrition and other complications. Our digestive system is made the way it is made for a reason. These surgeries force a change in eating habits and how food is digested but they can and often enough are eaten around such as...

Soup thickener (is there any diabetes friendly?)

Thank you, I will have to try that.

    how important this is

It changes how you absorb different macronutrients. There are a couple different bariatric surgeries that they can do and I have no idea which one they are using in the UK. You can look up roux-en-Y on google for a scientific explanation. This seems to be the most common one in north america.

    how important this is

Bariatric surgery does not just make the stomach smaller, it also replumbs the small intestine. The stomach will eventually restretch but the plumbing is changed for life.

    Question about morning BG

For me the longer I go without eating the higher my bloods go. This is true for fasting in the morning and also for any time I go long periods without eating.

Type 2 B.s suddenly 30+, and now 4.1... I'm now a guinea pig... Any thoughts..?

If I were you I would try to get a fasting c-peptide test done to find out what your own natural insulin levels are doing. Being on exogenous insulin will not affect this test. It is easier to make informed decisions if you have all the information.

    Post-Prandial/Drinking Nonsense

Yes, everyone has a rise in blood sugar after eating. 7.8 is my upper limit that I try to stick to but the real issue is the amount of the rise compared to where you started at. If you start at 5 and rise to 7.8 you are probably fine but the same rise of almost 3 points is not good if you...
