    Post-Prandial/Drinking Nonsense

You test right before eating. Testing at 1 hour post meal tells you how high that food is spiking you. Testing at 2 hours tells you how well your body is dealing with the spike. At 2 hours you should be close to where you started before eating. This may take some time to achieve when you are...

My contour next is bang on the lab reading. Next time you go for bloods take your meter with you and test immediately before they draw blood. This will tell you how close your meter is and you can adjust from there. Also the batch of strips you use can make a difference. For some of us...

Type 2 B.s suddenly 30+, and now 4.1... I'm now a guinea pig... Any thoughts..?

Hi, blood ketones of 1.1 is still in ketosis which is anything between .5 and about 3 or 4. A hamburger bun, however, is enough to throw me out of ketosis for a couple of days. As others have said, no one on here can tell you to change or adjust your meds. A ketogenic diet is probably one of the...

excellent low carb diet explanation in plain english

My original post was put up here for the many people who are new to low carb and are on the forum asking what can I eat? How do I do this? They are not asking for the science behind it, those questions come later. They just want a clear picture of what to eat and not eat which is borne out by...

    Preventing Type 2

I don't think the hostility is aimed at you, at least not in my case. I live in Canada and the advice here is just as bad as what is given in the UK. The attitude from the medical profession that people are too stupid or lazy or hopeless to change their lifestyle and that this is absolutely...

    Preventing Type 2

That is a very good idea in theory but the big problem with it is that the dietary advice given is wrong. If a pre-diabetic follows the advice given they will become full blown diabetic even faster in a lot of cases while happily going about believing that they are doing the right things to...

Newly diagnosed DM2 and BS when not feeling well

It is quite common for blood sugar levels to rise when you are ill even if you are vomiting or just not eating much. This is from the liver. Often the blood sugar will rise even before you start to feel ill. It should settle when you are feeling better.

    different kind of christmas

Try roasting chunks of daikon. It is quite good. It is actually a type of huge radish which sounds pretty weird but it makes a good substitute for potatoes in stews and can be used to make hash browns as well.
