    Celebrating My Lifestyle Change

Seems like Keto to me too, but mark @Brunneria 's words. When you come far enough, that you wish to stop loosing weight - be careful to really increase your intake of fat. I did the mistake, and went keto, with too little fat, and it was not good for my health. Nowadays I'm a lot wiser (but...

    Keto diet for type 1?

@mattrix My bad - I should have phrased myself better. STAY in ketosis, was what I meant, really... As @Brunneria and @Jaylee points out here, the urine sticks are not too accurate, but a lot cheaper, if you have to buy them yourself. Back to some more questions: Do you split dose your...

    Keto diet for type 1?

Hello again @mattrix ! Glucose and ketones in your urine, only shows what has been... The only really trustworthy meter is your glucose meter, as it gives the values that right at the moment are valid. Seems you do have high values now and then, so may I ask you. What Insulin do you use, how...

    Tinned fruit in juice

Well, maybe so, but one have to put in a LOT of insulin, to keep BGLs down after canned fruit - be it in sugary syrup or not... ...so, I agree, with all my heart :arghh:

    Keto diet for type 1?

Good morning (well, almost DAY already, I admit :)...) @mattrix ! Just a fast question - I'll get back later, but quite busy at work right at the moment... What does your abbreviation PG, stand for? You say, for example, "PG 5.3 mmol/L of plasma" My mother tongue is Swedish, so that's maybe a...

    Frosted wheats type 1

Hello there @PatrickakaBeFo , and welcome :) Had the same type of problem, many years ago. Slowly it developed to a point where I got diarrhea, if I ate more wheat, than ½ a biscuit, and it could also have been a link in the chain giving me Colitis. Suggest, that if your symptoms worsen, stop...

    Keto diet for type 1?

If you wish to reach ketosis, you have to be a little careful with the amount of proteins used - protein can be turned into sugar, via a process called gluconeogenesis. As a type 1, this also means, that if you eat much protein, you should also dose for it. Protein turns into glucose a lot...

    Keto diet for type 1?

Hello there @mattrix ! I'm at this time doing quite the same as @EllieM here above. Low-carbing, and going at more or less constantly on values between 0.3 and 1.8 mmol/L. If you keep your carb-intake low enough, but compensate with fat (mostly) and proteins (normal amounts), then your body...

Type 2 Extremely sluggish insulin in the morning

I would also spike horribly, if I ate bread in the morning - agree with @xfieldok here above. Try to get your amount of carbs down, but be careful, that the amount of Insulin you use, also follows..

Really annoyed by NHS Diabetes prevention program

Hmm... I agree to only some extent, meaning, if you get into real trouble, yes. In other cases I think it's better to stand up for your cause, because If you don't, you can be totally overrun with bad ideas AND the other part doesn't know where you stand...

Really annoyed by NHS Diabetes prevention program

Suggest they change name to Hindrance People, then... :angelic: (without the word Diabetes appearing)

I feel like i wont be happy again:(((

Just had to put my nose in here... I agree with all here, and just wish to say - I got my diabetes, when I was 15 months old, and this means I'm at about 54 years with diabetes. Some small problems, yes, but nothing that is fundamentally wrong, as long as you don't count what's between my ears...

Really annoyed by NHS Diabetes prevention program

Even me, as a Type 1, agree with people here above - do what seems to work, and ditch the carbs, if you feel well that way. I'm myself limiting carb intake to almost keto-status, but because of not quite suitable insulins, I'm not there yet... So, if I as a Type 1 can reach keto-values, without...

Freestyle libre sensor keeps giving me low readings...

Hello @rebetic , and welcome :) Call Abbot, and tell them you have a faulty sensor - they'll probably send you a new one, without any costs for you. Save your old sensor, though, because you will surely have to send it back... (no cost there involved, either)... Edited to add a little P.S. If...

Type 1 Tresiba - how long does it take to kick in

Morning! Tresiba taken sometime between 6 P.M. and 8 P.M. Starts working after a bit more than 4 hours, and with a minimal peek action. Peek action after about 8 hours. Last for 14½ - 15 hours (for me, that is). Which means I combine as follows - Tresiba at night / Porcine at daytime - works...
