    Pre work out snacks??

I make my own muesli with oats, nuts, seeds and some dried fruit soaked in apple or orange juice and have some of that with Greek yogurt before going out for a morning run or fast walk. Apparently it's better for women to eat before they exercise and this mixture doesn't put my BG up although I...

    Travelling Abroad

Interestingly I've never put my insulin pens in a plastic bag . I carry them in Frio pouches and I've not had to take them out.

    Managing exercise and insulin

I can really imagine how gutted you are not to be able to run when you enjoyed it so much but think positive, what else could you do that would improve your fitness and make you feel better about yourself. I run and walk and also do Pilates several times a week and that is brilliant for core...

    Walking And Sugar Level

yes, walking can certainly drop your blood sugar down, especially if you walk fast. I've walked a lot today and make sure I have a bar or something with me or I'd be in trouble. I try not to go walking unless I have some sweets or something in my pocket, just in case.

Partners/ Family Members Of A Type 1 Diabetic?

It's really tough for T1 partners, I've been T1 for 38 years and my husband had the patience of a saint on odd times when I get low bgs. It's not easy and I'm pretty well controlled but ultimate your partner has to deal with it, it's his life. Don't let it become a bone of contention, be...

Hopefully your family and friends will get to recognise when you are low and have some lucozade or something sweet on hand. Remember lucozafe only has half the sugar now.

Type 2 Bg Spike After Exercise

I used to run before eating and before injecting insulin then read about it being better for women to eat before exercising. Now I inject and eat breakfast before going for a run then I tend to get low an hour later. I'm used to this and have more carbs layer to deal with it, after checking BG...

Type 2 Any Ideas What Is Happening.

Changing your exercise levels can make a massive difference. Maybe try going back up to normal exercise levels - as long as you feel OK, the start of an infection can push up your BG. Your levels aren't too bad, don't panic, sure you'll soon get a handle on it.

Anyone With Type 1 And No Complications

I've been free of any complications, other than some hypos, for 38 years. I eat well, control my duty, do 5 - 6 blood tests a day (sometimes more) and exercise like crazy. I run, walk and do Pilates several times a week. It's tough because you can never relax or forget about being diabetic...

Type 1 Parents Don’t Seem To Understand

I subscribe to a charity called InDependent Diabetes Trust (look up IDDT on line). They will send you a pack with info on T1 or T2, it's brilliant. I've been T1 for 38 years and it's the best and clearest information I've ever read. A small donation is OK. Get your parents to read the pack and...
