    Rant!

Well, where do I start. I have to get this off my chest and am happy to take advice. I was given Empagliflozin on the 3rd. I saw my diabetic nurse on the 7th. I had a headache and felt short of breath. But she was very happy with my blood glucose levels as they had dropped from 16.5 to 6.6. On...

    Coffee and blood glucose

To be fair, I couldn't live without coffee. I need it to wake up. I have 2 coffees before 10am and that is enough for the day. Black, with 2 sweeteners. Strong and satisfying. I rarely drink tea and sometimes I have a diet fizzy drink but apart from that, I drink water. Oh, except when on a...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Love the idea of sticking my arm out for coffee. I'm like a zombie

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

6.6. Second day in a row. Very happy with that. Seeing the nurse today who wants me on insulin. After the Tesco event yesterday (getting the shakes plus dizziness, which subsided after a glucose tablet), I am saying no for another 2 weeks. Wish me luck!

    Type 2 Statins

Hmm, not sure most T2D are on statins. Where is the nurse getting the statistics? I was told to go on them, as my cholesterol was slightly above normal. Not a lot, just slightly. I told them no. I'm now around 2kg overweight, don't smoke, don't really drink and my blood pressure is going down...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Breakfast: scrambled eggs and 2 kielbasa Lunch chicken, tomatoes, cucumber, cheese, chutney (1 teaspoon, my weakness), creme fraiche and strawberries 3pm: glucose tablet as I got the shakes (just started Empagliflozin) Dinner: beef burger, cheese, mushrooms, bacon, tomatoes, beetroot...

    Empagliflozin

6.6 this morning. While out shopping, I began to shake a bit and felt dizzy. Had a glucose tablet and after a few minutes, picked up. I'm at the DN tomorrow for my insulin appointment (to be shown how to use the pen etc). I am going to tell her I want to delay starting it.

    Empagliflozin

Ooh, I didn't know that. Thank you for the link. I am low-carbing but not to the extreme. Around 50g a day. I don't have much of an appetite

    Empagliflozin

Thank you for your reply. It is good to know it has happened to others too. I was amazed at a 7.9 this morning upon waking. I haven't had one like that in so long.

    Empagliflozin

Hey, I am due to start insulin on Tuesday but have been given E mpagliflozin too, which I started today. The thing is, my readings today are rather odd. They are normally around the 17/18 mark. Before breakfast: 16.5 Before lunch: 16.1 I then took the empagliflozin at lunchtime Before bed...

    New Insulin User

Not rude at all. The most pressing question I have is how will it affect my eating pattern. I have a very sensitive stomach and do not feel hungry most of the time. I eat because I had to medicate with Metformin. I have been put on Humulin. I will be shown how to on Tuesday, but I wonder of...

    New Insulin User

Hi all, Officially, I have been type 2 since 2007 but they suspected it would have been a lot earlier but undiagnosed. For the first 7 years, it was diet-controlled (up and down) and then 7 years with metformin (gradually getting worse over time). I am now 44 and 2 years ago, had a shed load of...

Blurry vision after laser for diabetic retinopathy

When I had my first set of lasers, I found my vision was a bit blurry after but didn't last. After lasers number 2, the blurriness lasted a bit longer. Are your eyes uber sensitive?

    Eye Surgery soon, any experiences?

Had 2 different lasers, twice, in both eyes. It's not painful. The hardest thing I found was not looking at the dot! Incidentally, I had injections too which were the worst experience of my life!

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

23.5 this morning. It was 13.6 yesterday before I ate porridge for dinner as I really fancied it. I am only able to have softer foods after some recent stomach complications and infections so decided to risk it. Epic fail!
